I just returned from the Great Floridian Triathlon where I had to endure 140.6 miles powered by gatoraid Yellow. Question, why do they still make this formula. It is horrible.
Can anyone enlighten me - Gatoraid makes some good flavors and I train almost exclusively with their products, but why the yellow?

how did the water taste on the run around the lake? i did the half a few years back and it had a funny tinge to it. it was still good, since i am from “the oc” as well and not use to 95% humidity.
The water tasted fine… except for the time I asked for ice water and they gave me iced chicken broth… I almost blew right there.
The GFT was a great race and very well organized I just can’t believe that they choose yellow gatoraid because of 2 guys on ST.
THe stuff is nasty. The new rain flavors, those are good!

Because it’s also known as “original”. This is the flavor that Gatorade first existed in - like “Classic Coke”.

The original is good and Citrus Cooler even better (with more intense yellow color even). Better still if you buy it with the label printed in spanish “Citrico Extremo”!

original yellow is my favorite. I like 'em all, with orange my least favorite.
Lemon-lime Gatorade is one of my favorites also. Maybe the yellow fluid you received was not Gatorade. Not a good thought.
I LOVE yellow gatorade. I have a fridge full of yellow regular and endurance formula.
What I don’t like is the orange. I’d prefer that IMNA had yellow on the run course as well, but understand that most folks prefer a little variety.

One of the greatest pleasures of flying to the US is rehydrating after the flight with a Big Gulp bottle of Gatorade.
I just wish it was more widely available in the UK.
It all depends on the mixture.
I buy pre-mixed Lemon-Lime endurance and it tastes fine.
The stuff I get at races goes between colored water and eating a Lik-m-aid fun dip http://www.candywarehouse.com/fundip.html – pure powder.
I can’t do any of the non-endurance gatorades because it is too sickly sweet. That being said Gatorade Endurance Fruit Punch is the WORST!

Next week will be 5 years since I did IMFL. The only flavor of Gatorade on the course was Riptide Rush (purple flavor)…I haven’t had it since. I think any flavor, if it’s the only one available on a long course, is one you will tire of quickly.
