Gatorade "Recovery" Review

This is the “recovery” part of Gatorade’s attempt to delve into the new “prime, perform, recover” meme wherein sellers of sports snake oil now try to sell you 3 times as much crap by suggesting that you should ingest special versions of their corn sugar BEFORE working out, special versions DURING, and then AGAIN after you work out. just to be SURE you stay fat.

well the “recovery” variety has a little bit of protein in it.

I tried the green one after a HARD 1:45 bike ride today

it tastes like shit and now I want to throw up

I’ll report back tomorrow if my legs look like Cancellara’s. Stay tuned.

I don’t know about “Canallara”, but I sure like it. The prime is ok, but I really like the recovery drink. However, the prices for their new line really blow. A few weeks ago Publix had the recovery on sale for $1. I cleaned out the shelves.

Can’t see how this beats milk, chocolate milk, some orange juice and a bit of cheese, or any number of cheaper, better tasting options, heh

Chocolate milk is great but if you don’t finish at home you
need to ice it down. I found a product that tastes like chocolate
milk Boost4:1 ratio comes in chocolate strawberry and vanila
Doesn’t need icing andit even tastes good warm

The horrendous flavor is a plus. That means it will actually be in the refrigerator when you want it. The kids would drink up all that good tasting stuff you listed, but it only takes one bottle of Recover per kid to insure that they never touch it again. (I’m actually serious here.)

noted for when I have kids!

The grocery store bought G series recovery drink is horrible, you gotta get the Pro series from GNC or Dick’s, it’s milk based and taste realy really good and it has 30g of protein in it and with like 60g of carbs. usually only drink that after a race or a session longer than 3 hours. Otherwise I do about 4 ounces of Cherry Pom juice and 12 ounces of Horizon organic chocolate milk for recovery.

update:

I do not have cancellara legs today.

gonna return this stuff

HURK

=)

Do you feel better than you did right after getting off the bike yesterday? Then it worked!!!

Cancellara legs after 1 workout? That wouldn’t be a recovery drink, that would be a special BALCO product.

Funny – After my run this morning I made some chocolate milk. Didn’t realize my youngest (2 yrs & a milk addict) was watching until he opened the fridge and pointed to the Hershey’s w/ one hand and held up his bottle w/ the other. Since he’s the baby I’m willing to accomodate pretty much anything he asks for so of course I hooked him up…
