Gas station possibly filled my diesel truck with gas

That sucks, I’m sorry. My brother owns a 2001 Pathfinder that keeps running, so not all Nissans are crap.

Still have the cummins. Get it cheap before i scrap it.

I had a 2010 Titan before I got this Titan XD. I really liked the Titan. The only reason I upgraded was for a bit more carrying capacity and with a growing family wanted the full cab. And it was a nice truck… when it worked. But repairs were frequent and just absurdly expensive. Nissan only produced the truck for 3 years then discontinued it, and no other manufacturer took up the Cummins engine that was in it, which pretty much doomed the truck’s longevity in terms of sourcing parts etc.

Those older pathfinders are solid. They have a great reputation for longevity.

Love my new 1500 silverado with the babymax. We’ll see how the def/exhaust system hold up, but i got a 15 year unlimited miles bumper to bumper warranty.

I would check that warranty, as DPF filters are considered consumable maintenance items, like fuel filters or oil filters, and often not covered. And they cost thousands to replace.

I can’t speak to that model specifically but after the multi months long saga I’ve been through I’ve been reading a lot of diesel forums on DPF issues and that is a common complaint.

I really do appreciate the offer, but will pass. Ultimately I think a half ton gasser is really what I need, and BC is weird about importing vehicles.

If BC passes, I am interested.

Really sorry to hear this. That is soooo frustrating. My personal opinion would be a petrol motor. Diesel seems to be dying and what’s left is uber expensive to fix (not telling you anything you don’t already know). Good luck parting out your truck and finding a new one.

oh no, sorry man

so what happened the second time?

Depending on merger negotiations, they may become Hondas.

Ps - bummer about your truck

Ughhhhh. I’m sorry. I really wanted to like the Titan XD, but the lack of uptake on the new Cummins motor plus DieselGate scared me off.

I’ve been pretty happy with the F150 2.7 EcoBoost. It’s a short bed, but it works for most of our needs. Only issues: the minor oil into the left turbo at idle thing (a thing I can do myself if I find the time for it), and occasionally the 10-speed transmission is dim-witted in “normal” mode, which is solved by putting it into either Eco or Wet/Snow programming.

Just can’t get over how expensive this shit is now. I never would have paid full sticker for my truck in 2020 (and didn’t). Now they’re $5-$8K more. $60K USD for a truck that doesn’t even have that many creature comforts is fucking insane.

Yeah it’s shocking. I’ve been shopping around and dealers aren’t willing to budge at all either.

Not only that it seems like every half ton has major reliability issues. GM has ongoing transmission issues, Ford is, well, Ford. Toyota’s new tundras have been plagued by massive recalls etc. Wheres the value?

Part of me wants to find a gentle used 2021 Tundra (last year before they switched away from their simple, reliable 5.7L) and ride that thing in to the ground.

Dealers aren’t budging much in part because dealer pricing is so damn high at this point, too.

The transmission issues you cite with GM is the same 10-speed unit found in the Ford, they just have different programming. I will say that after a software flash it usually gets better. The “problem” is that it tries “learning” your behavior, and anticipates gear changes accordingly. But living in a place as hilly as it is here, occasionally it gets confused and gives a very, very hard shift – especially in either normal or sport mode.

But otherwise, 107,000 miles on mine. Outside of normal maintenance, I’ve had to buy one set of all season tires (the OEM spec were bald after 45,000 miles, better life now that I swap between winters / all seasons), done the brakes once, and had to do a tie-rod. All things considered, not bad.

That all said, if we move to some place more congested, the truck is going. It’s too damn big when I go into the city.

I see a lot of insurance adjusters that drive F-250s when all they’re carrying are a couple of ladders and their clothes. That is just too much truck to drive in cities, especially if you’re working in old downtown areas. I drive a Honda Pilot that has a custom built ladder rack for my big extension ladder and another small rack inside for my collapsible ladders. It parks and turns easy in tight streets.

I have an older F-150 that I use for pulling my boats and hauling lumber or gardening stuff. I will sometimes drive it into town, but it isn’t fun to drive.

That said, they are great for open roads as they sit higher and have a great field of view, and most are pretty comfortable.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to just swap the truck for a Tahoe or Expedition.

But they’re another $10K on top of the equivalent truck.

It’s all fucking madness.

(The Pilot is probably the eventual answer.)

Is there an issue with the 10L80 GM is using? from all I have heard is it fixed the issue in the 6L80 (what I had go out). That was driven by the torque converter.

Toyota recalled all their 6 cylinder engines because they missed a cleaning process post machining, I would assume they will have that motor sorted in short order.

Had to get around a 2024 dodge stopped in the middle of 5 lanes of rush hour traffic. They are the ones to avoid right now, full of electrical gremlins that leave you stuck in park.

Hit me up. 97 12v. Indestructable.

Boats plural

Three points for the subtle backdoor brag

Its Florida. If you don’t have at least 3 boats you can qualify for Welfare.
