You are right, rebranded bosch. Look, i have a 97 12v cummins 3/4 ton with only 300k, so like a third of its lifespan. Mechanically perfect, rust free but rough paint, decent interior. Only thing that needs work is fixing the blend door so you can flip between heat and AC. Yours for 6k us dollars. Will run for years and can pull 10k. Change the plate in the lift pump and you can get an easy 80 hp jump and not trash the transmission.
Maybe buy another truck to take the time pressure off you (if thatās financially viable) so you have what you need to work right now. Then find someone who knows what the fuck theyāre doing to repair the truck in a more affordable, sensible, and problem-solving manner and sell it once done? At that point you can then decide which vehicle to hold onto. And if not repairable you can part it out to offset purchase of new truck. Just a thought!
And your kids can always be hairdressers or garbagemenā¦.at least thatās what my dad told me when I said I didnāt want to go to college (trying to inject some humor).
That is an incredibly generous and thoughtful offer. Thank you. Iām going to take a couple days and consider some local options but will certainly pm you and let you know one way or another. Thanks again.
I donāt care what @E_DUB says, this forum is incredible!
Hey, Iām going to hit you up for a job when i get deported. Just need a place to hook up my trailer.
Ha! Youāre welcome here any time, though I canāt say youāll love the pay up hereā¦
I am sorry things have ended up the way they have and that it has taken this long to reach a point where you finally have an idea what is going on. I have copied my earlier reply to you below, not to say I told you so or anything, just to highlight how a single incorrect assumption (by your first mechanic) led you down a complex pathway, delayed getting to the actual cause and no doubt has cost you more money along with a massive amount of stress.
I work in a high risk medical field and we are constantly working on the various types of bias that can influence the way we deal with situations, especially time critical and life threatening ones and we study the way situations can devolve because of a single incorrect assumption etc. I am sorry you have had to go through this prolonged saga to reach the point where you are now (if it is any consolation, it was hard seeing it from the sidelines as well). I am glad you at least know what is going on now (hopefully!), even though it still seems like a very expensive repair bill.
Oh trust me, I was thinking about your post when I got that damn fuel sample back.
Also, if i get deported, salary is my last concern. But i may have options in trenton ontario with a place that makes dinosaur skeletons.
I think, if you can swing it, Iād take the cheap truck or another as an interim, and have the time to figure out a solution
Main dealers will not, in my experience, use after market parts or parts supplied by a customer
I think Iād be concerned that if I dropped x on a fix for a engine that is notorious for issues, that it does not happen again.
The current vehicle doesnāt have a market value of 0, but Iād weigh up the cost of more problems down the line versus a new vehicle with a 10 year warranty.
Trenton is just over an hour east of here. I have a brand new shed with no tarp on it you can stay in if you need a place.
10 year warranty?
Seems the norm is 36 months and 5 year for power train only.
Otherwise I agree. Iām hesitant to drop that on replacing an injector when there are 7 other injectors that could potentially fail. On the other hand, cheap vehicles donāt really exist here. For $20k youāre getting something with 200,000kms, 10+ years old, and very well worn with its own issues. Used vehicles have a 12% tax here as well.
Seems like Iām either paying to fix the vehicle I know, pay close to the same amount for an unknown vehicle with a lot of mileage, or spending 3x on something new.
The way money is flying out of our account these days I might need to call dibs on that shed before jroisa snags it.
My Toyota in UK came with 10 year warranty
Toyota Canada is 36 months or 60,000km, whichever comes first.
I am sure this is just a coincidence

Not surprising.l
Your prediction came true. I figured Iād cap this thread off once and for all.
My plan was to get my truck road worthy and trade it in. So, I put some work in to it, got it back after the holidays and two weeks later while in the middle of truck shopping⦠It died again. For good.
So now I have an 8 year old truck that I paid $65,000 for and just put thousands in to that is basically worth a few grand as scrap parts.
I will never, ever own another Nissan again.
That sucks man, Iām sorry.
I blame the tariffs

Should have bought a Canadian car!
