Garmin watch triangle of death this morning

Anybody else’s Garmin watch suddenly go into the “triangle of death” this morning? Can’t seem to get it to get out, even with a hard power down and power up. Some threads somewhere else on the internet suggesting its systemwide.

Yes; more info from DC Rainmaker: Garmin Watches Are Crashing When Trying to Start GPS | DC Rainmaker

So far, mine is working fine. I have a fenix 6pro. Dcr article said f7/8 does not list the f6. So, hopefully that holds true.

My F7 did something similar a few days ago and my connect reset all of my training metrics (HRV, load, training status, etc). Not sure if it’s exactly related but it seems to be back to normal except for the weird step down in my history.

My Garmin Venu 2S started just fine today. I only use it to broadcast heartrate.

Yep, got it this morning as I exited my car at the frosty park. I ended up doing a factory reset just so I could get the run in. Garmin 265s. There’s multiple threads about it on the Garmin forums so it appears to be fairly widespread.

Because there’s no way you could have done a run without your watch?

Went for a swim this morning. No problems.Yet.

I should have been more specific. I had a workout with intervals. The watch wouldn’t even function as a stopwatch, it was totally bricked.

My Garmin 255 won’t even do the hard factory reset that DC Rainmaker says should fix it. It just goes right back to the blue triangle of death.

Didnt work for me either, but it worked when I did as described her by enkayte:

This finally worked for me, found this tip on DCRainmaker’s website (not one of his tips though, none of his seemed to work for me.)

Ok, got out of the loop….the link above may work for some people, but my wifes 955 worked like this….power off by holding the light button for 30 secs. Then brief press to power on. As soon as triangle appears press both start/stop and back together. After first bleep release start/stop, then release back after second bleep. That gets you to a cog screen, then onto select language.

I had just sent back my 955 to get a replacement since the altimeter stopped working about 10 days ago and had been annoyed the new one was quite delayed in getting here but this made me glad i got stuck with a few extra days using my old 945 that still seems to be working fine.

Thanks for sharing this - it got my 255 Music out of the loop. Did you manage to pair your wife’s watch to the phone afterwards? I’m having trouble with that (phone finds the watch but when I try to pair it says “unable to pair your Garmin device”.

Yes, I managed to re-pair my Garmin 255 with my phone manually afterwards since it was out of the death-triangle loop. (The tip I got was from another forum’s wife, but it worked for my 255.) I had to manually remove the 255 from Garmin Connect and repair it from scratch, so all my settings are gone.
