Hi everyone, just purchased new Vector pedals. Everything is working fine, I went through the calibration process etc without any issues. However, I ran into problems with the Garmin Updater. I keep getting the following message
“A device was found, but the check for updates failed. Verify your internet connection, and restart the search to try again. Click continue to proceed without a software update.”
I run the usual non-computer expert diagnostics…installed updater, uninstalled updater, re-installed updater, installed updater on both a PC and MAC and got the same message. Any ideas?
I did, and I replaced with brand new batteries. Same issue. This is the message I got from the garmin forum…any insight?
The Vector Updater attempts to communicate with a software server hosted by Garmin that contains the latest software release for Vector. If for some reason it cannot reach that server then it will give the message you are seeing.
If could be that the server might have been down (is down) for some reason as it sounds like you have internet access in order to get the Vector Updater.
As of 2014-01-12 the latest release is 2.10. You can check the version on your Edge if go to the ANT+ Power sensors detail page when Vector is awake and transmitting.
What I meant is, to have the pedal in communication mode, you need to remove the battery in the pod and put them back I think 20sec later. Then the firmware update can happen but that is a narrow window. See the firmware instruction.
Apparently I am not the only one with this issue. The Garmin Vector moderator on garmin forum had this to say “I just checked and the software server is currently unreachable”
Yeah, but Garmin recommended checking the software prior to going through the whole configure/calibrate process. I just wanted to make sure that there was nothing wrong with my hardware or my Ant+ USB. As it turns out, the Vector Update site is down. Just relieved I don’t have to return the pedals…yet
