I’m in the market for a power meter and have been looking at Garmin Vector for a while now. I like the ability to easily change the pedals between bikes so that I can use it over all my bikes without the need to change the crank every time.
With that, I’ve been looking at the “cheaper” version of the Vector range, the Vector S. I know that this comes as a left sided set up, the question I pose is that if I bought a Vector S (which includes 2 pedals and a left side pedal pod), is it possible to buy an additional “replacement” pedal pod for the right side and combine them into a two sided system like the full priced Vector? I’m not sure if the right side pedal supplied with the Vector S set up has the instrumentation to collect data on the right side or if a replacement pedal pod would work? I suspect that Garmin have already thought of this an supplied a regular right side pedal without any instrumentation.
Yeah this is possible.
Garmin sell a “vector upgrade” that is just the right side, aimed specifically at Vector S owners who want to pay the extra for a full system.
Google “Vector right side upgrade” or similar - They sell in the UK for ~£500
If you have a Vector S single side and you want to upgrade you buy an upgrade kit that includes a pod AND a new pedal with the electronic in it. The strain guages are not in the pod, they are in the pedal. The pedal connect to the pod. The pod contains the battery and the transmission circuitry.
The right pedal provided with the Vector S kit has no electronic in it. It’s just a plain pedal.

Thanks guys. That’s what I was wondering about, the right side pedal has no instrumentation in it so one would have to purchase the upgrade to get a usable right side pedal.
What if you own the vector 2s(single side) and buy the upgrade kit for the vector 1(double side) to vector 2(double side), doesn’t it come with 2 cartridge and 2 pods?
can one then just install the cartridge into the right none functioning pedal and make it a functioning right pedal?
