I just upgraded from the 2s to the full set by purchasing the right side power pedal. How do I get my 920xt to recognize the right side pedal?
The LBS installed it, all looks good. I see the four LED flashes that, according to the Garmin site, means the two pedals are connecting. 920xt only shows Left Scale Factor.
What am I missing?
I would do the update firmware process with your PC.
sorry I missed the part about LBS… they should have checked it with your garmin?
delete the power meter off your garmin and re- establish the pairing

Four flashes means that pedal is searching for its paired pedal. You (or your LBS) needs to use Vector Updater (on PC or Mac, with an ANT stick) to pair the two pedals together. Then you delete the left-side power meter from your 920, and search again or explicitly enter the ID etched on the right spindle into your 920 as the power meter ID.
When you said “the LBS installed it”, what does that mean?

Yep
The new right pedal needs to be associated with the old left pedal.
I currently have the left side only pedal and want to upgrade to dual sided.
I found this online (Garmin Vector 2 Upgrade Kit):

Would I simply be able to add one pod onto the right side pedal, delete the old left side only device, pair the two pods together, and keep the extra pod that comes with the set as backup? If so, this seems like a much more affordable option.

No. The right spindle in your Vector 2S system is solid steel and does not have the force sensor electronics inside. The pods provide battery and radio capability but do not have any of the force or cadence sensor components.
Well, that is disappointing. Guess I will need to buy something second hand as I will not pay full price for this upgrade.
