I am going for a ride tomorrow and wanted to use my new toy the Garmin Varia radar. Unfortunately the supplied bands don’t seem to stretch long enough to get around the aero post and secure the mount. Anyone else have this issue and if so how did you resolve it? Thanks.
Super janky? Pop the filler silicone bits out and run the rubber band through there (it works).
Better long term solution would be one of the seat rail mounted mounts, but that’d interfere with the ISM seat hook on mine, so usually opt for the super janky method (haven’t used it in a race).
Super Janky?
https://www.lexico.com/en/definition/janky ← basically it’s not a great solution, but it’ll work
.
I attach mine to a CO2 cartridge that I have on the back of my XLab Super Wing behind the seat.
Use two of the rubber bands… it’s a super obvious solution once you do it. Haha
I’ve heard that the reflector mounts that come on complete bikes (govt requirement or something), works perfectly for the varia. Check with the local felt dealer and see if they have any laying around that they took off any bikes.
Wow born and raised in NYC never heard the term…but you learn something new every day!
I’ll try that…thanks.
Option 1: Long zipties from your local hardware store . If they are not long enough, link two together. Clip off any excess for a cleaner look.
Option 2: Saddle rail mount also works. For training, it’s probably fine to run bottles within the triangle.
That looks perfect! Thanks.
for anyone else reading this thread here is the easy way.
I have a xlab turbo wing on the back of mine and 3d printed a mount meant for the new madone and bolted it on there. best solution i’ve come up with.

This doesn’t really help the OP much but maybe others, I wanted another mount for my Varia so I didn’t have to move it around. I also wanted to move it up a bit higher on my gravel bike so I picked up one of the Fizik compatible deals from these guys:
I think it’s going to work really well.
I’ve put mine on the left seatstay with bands and mount provided by garmin. It still does the job and notifies me about approaching cars.
