Garmin Mount for Aerobars

So i want a better mount for my Garmin between my aerobars. Who makes one. I have Zipp Vuka aero bars and cant find one. I’d like something with the quarter turn mount such as the bar fly but it wont work cause Zipp bars aren’t 31.8 diameter.

K edge and barfly are both coming out with tt specific mounts

FlipLoc Aero

What: The FlipLoc Aero is a new mount for the Garmin 500/200 and is made from nylon by crafty engineer Erik Ostergaard. It is double-sided and reversible and thus gives you quite a few different mounting options. This unit fits all 22.2mm diameter aero bars, but you might have to be patient to get your hands on one. Word has it that they are very popular already. There is also a 31.8mm standard road bar version.
Weight: 13 grams
MSRP: $35

If you don’t mind something home made, it’s pretty easy to make one yourself. Get a small piece of PVC the right diameter for your mount and just long enough to fit between the bars. Drill a couple of holes in each end and attach it between your bars with a zip tie on each end. Since I’m a little OCD about my carbon components i wrapped electrical tape around the bars where the zip ties were. The set up worked great and was free (thanks to PVC scraps in the garage).

pvc pipe cut to length and drilled to run zip ties through to affix it to both aerobars. you wind up with a more stable mount than most of the available options, greater ease of putting the garmin where ever you want it (my mount actually hit the aerobars where I have bar tape and works fine, I don’t think any of the pre-made mounts would allow this), and it add a bit of stiffing to the front end similar to the k-edge bridge kristin armstong had on her felt.

extra points for using a rotary sanding bit to shape the ends to better joint with the extensions and painting it black.

There’s a few good options on this thread. I’ve posted a link to my DIY solution here and I’m really happy with how it has worked.

Or you could pay $8 or $10 for the Profile Design UCM or UCM XL. That goes for people also recommending the Barfly or K-Edge or even the new Garmin mount. $30 to $40 is just dumb.

I responded to the OP who stated he wanted a garmin specific mount like the barfly but for aerobars. So since I actually answered his question, I’d say you’re response should qualify as just dumb? Or just typical ST response.

I have had two of the profile design mounts break on me, wish I’d picked up the ‘dumb’ one first time around
.

agreed…never had luck w/ the PD mount either…and since when is any of this stuff we blow our money on not dumb??

Has anyone actually liked the PD mount? Mine sucks…

+1
cheap, plus you can easily move it around

It sounds like only the ones who couldn’t afford to put Electronic shifting on their bikes had problems with the cheapo computer mount? I opted for the mechanical shifting and uber expensive $30 computer mount that works. I guess my priorities are screwed up?

+2. Not much to pay for a little quality and style. Hats off to Erik.

How is the tension on the fliploc? if you hit a bump does the computer move?

K-Edge is coming out with a really cool between the arms mount in December or January… They had a prototype at Interbike… To save space, it doesn’t have the standard quarter-turn mount, it actually has a proprietary forward-backward slotted groove that clicks into place…

It’s solid. Doesn’t move a bit.
