Anyone use this Garmin GPS as a bike computer? Seems like a pretty good deal, $99 at Target and has current speed as well as distance, no wires, very compact (size of a very mini cell phone)…

Yeah, they work OK. You can even get a bike mount for 'em. I haven’t used that one in particular, but I have used a Garmin Legend. Also great for those new training routes for when you get lost.

I rode with a guy that had a Garmin. I have no idea if it was this unit or not. It had map capabilities and altitude and he was happy with it. He did use it in conjunction with a standard bike computer though. It was pretty cool and I considered getting one myself, but I just waited until that case of gas (gear acquisition syndrome) wore off. Every time I go to REI though, they continue to tempt me.

You should try working there! I work at REI, and it’s killing me! It’s a giant toy store. Every day I find something new that I just need to have.
