Garmin Forerunner 965 debut Tuesday, 14 March

I’d be shocked if it is true. However, I like the larger face concept.

I’d buy it in a year or two.

I already have a fenix 6x and the 955 (pretty good deal on amazon for solar when I got it).

FFS. They are still dicking about badly fixing (and making more breakages elsewhere to go fix) the 955 software. 2 updates for mine in the last 3 or 4 days (and reports online that these have caused other new faults for some).

So who’s up for another beta product at an inevitably even higher price.

agreed, my 955 is on the charger at the moment after i think 3 days of minimal activities… its supposed to last 15 days. and yeah, thats just one of several bugs i’ve personally had from recent versions of the software - its actually gotten worse since the watch was originally launched!

14 march is obviously not reality but it seems it will be soon and i will be quite annoyed when my new model watch gets superseded before it has received a stable software release.

on the other hand, i suspect the 965 will have the same base software as the 955 so likely be just as buggy

Is this not a spoof? ChatGPT generated? Am I ruining the fun?

Ask your local Garmin dealer…chances are they’ve already booked their orders for this new watch (& others) to be in for a release date sooner than that.

And to think…I’ve got a 910 on my wrist as I type this…

910 doesn’t work with time, just GPS and workouts right? You running and typing? Ha

My issue with Garmin is I really wish they would just stabilise there whole base OS across their devices for a set hardware/sensor platform (as in 255, 955, Fenix7, Epix2) - there is so many feature differences across them, when really they should only really be material differences with the software acting the same. Why does one feature work correctly on one, and is buggy on another. Why does the touch interface interact differently between the 955 and the Fenix - its crazy.

I’m all for new shiny stuff - and normally I would be looking forward to the ‘next one’ - but feel I’m in no rush to swap out my 955 for the 965.

Looking at the garmin forums at the 955 and 955 beta topics - to think they are releasing a new version with all those issues outstanding!!

Ha ha! We have still got a 305 as a reserve in our household - charging cradle as well. Its not been used for a long time but last time it was out it worked just fine and the data downloaded to TP no problem. Poncy 965’s…

Be shocked, it’s true.

that link it to an AI generated review (for fun) based on confirmed, leaked info. It will come on 14 March (or at least that is the current plan)

it’s just a 955 sans solar and with a larger amoled screen, titanium bezel and a few new, but small, niceties. there a 265/265s too…all with photos from kind SE Asian retailers

I live in Taiwan and I have seen the Garmin 965 in the flesh, it is real and it is happening.

Perhaps Garmin is just acknowledging its real produce release schedule…e.g. anyone who buys a Garmin device within the first year to two years of its release is paying to be a beta tester for the myriad bugs included and added with each update to fix old bugs?

Get you 965 now in 2023 and by 2024 you will have a stable useful device with most of the features we advertised.

Heck…my Garmin 520+ was/is/will be a nightmare of glitches and bugs. Garmin 540 coming out soon if I want to join that train.

For bike computers…going in a new direction on March 22 when a new product from a company not named Garmin is coming out.

Hmmm. I predict that the 965 will be a 955 with a metal bezel. Why? To enable ECG. That’s it. It’s pretty frustrating, as a new 955 owner, that Garmin intentionally made the 955 incompatible with ECG. Do I need ECG? No. But this is just an exemplar of the endemic approach to ‘buy the next model’. When that churn was every 2 years, it was irritating. Now that it seems to be trending to every year, it is just unsustainably greedy.

I thought and the reason I buy the 955 and potentially the 965 is it is al light weight as possible and a more race watch pretty much a Fenix in a plastic case. If you want all the bells and whistles buy the Fenix with a metal bezel.

I like it has the running metrics like ground contact time without the need to wear a run chest strap.

The 955 has that with no need of anything other than the watch. My 955 is working fine, lasts several days, accurate and gets a good GPS signal fast so I have not found it buggy.

The 955 has what? I have a 955.

Weird to bring a new watch model with the 955 not even 1yo. I’ve been waiting a while for an updated edge 530, which is years without an update.

haha, I misread your reply! too many G&Ts
