I just got my Garmin edge 500 paired with my PT. I figured the distance statistics came from the GPS but its seems like its coming from the wireless hub signal. Is there a way to choose which one? I switch bikes with different size wheels and would rather use the GPS data. Thanks.
Setup multiple bikes on the GPS device. To my knowledge there is no way to turn off the distance from coming from the hub.
This probably does not help you, but I use the Garmin Speed/Cadence sensor and that makes the distance come from that gizmo rather than the PT hub.
In addition to configure diff bikes, set the “wheelsize” to auto: the Edge500 will compute wheel size at the beginning of every ride based on GPS signal.
I have no way to check this right now, but I thought that instant speed was coming from my speed/cadence sensor (I also use a Garmin sensor in addition to the PT) but overall distance was from GPS. I may be wrong here though.I would need to run a few tests to confirm this.
I was wondering the same thing. At one point, I had the Powertap, GPS, and duotrap. I’ve been having autopause problems and was trying to set some priority but gave up on it. I’ve removed the duotrap. When I ride indoors, I disable GPS so I know it’s coming from the powertap. Outdoors I have no idea.
