Hi All,

TrainingPeaks.com and CyclingPeaks version 2.0 will support the new Edge when they come out this November. TrainingPeaks.com allready supports the Forerunner 201 and 301, and when we release CyclingPeaks 2.0 it will also support the 201 and 301. Should be some good stuff for our bikes.

Yes that’s right, the long awaited CyclingPeaks 2.0 is coming…

cheers,

Looks like you get either HR or speed/cadence?

can you strap this guy on your arm for running, or are you better off strapping the forerunner to your bike? hate to shell out cash for both, if one can do the trick for running and cycling.

anyone try cycling with their forerunners?

I ride with my Forerunner 301 strapped on my handlebars. No problems so far.

Garmin offers a Tri mounting kit that includes a bike mount and watch band. The mount connects to the back of the Forerunner and then it slides into place on both the bike mount and watch band.

The 305 comes with 1 or the other initially; the other is available as an additional option, so you can have both.

I’m very impressed with the looks of the display.

I think these guys (Garmin) ought to partner with SRM to provide a version with power data integrated onto a single display. What a differentiator that could be for one of the power meter vendors!

All the time. I just strap it right on to my stem…

I know the street price will be less than the MSRP, but at $379 for a MSRP, don’t you think it’s a bit overpriced? Heck, for that price you can get the new ibike and get some “power” data (we’ll have to wait to see how accurate it is).

I love my 301 for running, and rode with it for some time, too, but since I got the PowerTap for my bike, I really have no need for a bike computer that doesn’t show wattage.

how do you like having both the Garmin for running and the powertap for riding… i am thinking of moving to that combo (have PT but run w/625x now) and having the option of using the garmin on non PT rides.

thanks.

And if they could shrink the GPS down so you could bring it along on the run and the swim…then you’d finally have a full package…Just the stop watch for the swim, Distance/speed/HR for the run, Power/Distance, Cadence, HR for the bike…am I asking for to much again?

I think the garmin/powertap combo is a winner. I use the Garmin for spinning classes and running, so no need for another HR monitor. Since I use TrainingPeaks, uploading from my Garmin is a breeze. I have a Polar 725 on it’s way to the classifieds section…

sounds good. I like the compatability with cycling peaks (a definite plus). Think this may be the route to go and then use a cheap HRM for racing.

swim=no need

bike=power tap race wheel

run=mostly by feel but for longer races just need the hrm to check for blowing up

thanks for the input

do you ever use the garmin on the bike?

I did use the Garmin. It’s nice because you don’t have to worry about a wiring harness. I ride with people that still use the Garmin.
