Garmin cadence sensor (1)

My sensor keeps draining my battery? A battery will last about a week. When I replace it, it works fine. Anyone else have this problem?

Shoe or bike? Assuming shoe, are you keeping it in a duffel bag or in your car where it gets bounced around a lot? Don’t forget that motion “activates” it and it will report cadence even if there is not receiver unit to send the signal to. This will drain the battery. Just a thought. If its your bike one, that doesn’t make sense and would lead me to believe it is a defective unit unless you just so happen to always stop with the magnet directly across from the sensor, even then I don’t think that would drain it.

I m sorry it is the sensor on my bike. Battery keeps going dead. I use it with my forrunner 305 watch. Watch is turned off and not near my bike.

You have to turn off the cadence sensor or it will drain the battery. if you turn it off after your ride, the battery will last a long time.

I have the same kind of problem, but have no idea as to how to turn off the cadence sensor mounted on the bike. Tim

Do not know. I am at two years with mine. I never turned off the sensor. Just ended the ride.

How do you turn off the sensor? I turn my watch off which should turn off the sensor right? There is no switch on the sensor itself.

Thats all I do. I really do not know what is causing the problem.

That’s strange. I’m also at nearly 2 years with mine without doing anything special to it. I’m not even aware of it having an on/off switch.

The blinky light on the outside of the sensor is also a button. Press that to turn it on. When on, every time the wheel or crank magnetic passes by, it blinks. Press down on it to turn it off.

The watch being turned on/off has nothing to do with it. And, you do not need to turn the sensor off, as suggested. It should shut itself off when the crank magnet and/or wheel magnet stop passing the sensor. If it’s not, it sounds like you have a bad unit.

Have garmin replace it.

Still under warranty?

Are you riding in the rain? This happened to me a couple of times in a particularly wet spell. Once things dried out I was fine. I think the water caused the batter to discharge.
