Garmin 910xt not synching with Garmin Connect

I spent close to two hours on the phone last night with Garmin Support … this after 6 e-mail exchanges that have offered no substantial suggestions I hadn’t already tried myself. I’m hoping somebody may have also experienced this problem and might have some insight:

I have a new Garmin 910xt. Everything is registered and the software for the ANT agent and the Garmin Connect plug-in has been installed (and uninstalled/re-installed numerous times). When I finish a workout and place the 910 in proximity to the ANT, everything fires up … including the log-in box asking me for my username/password. This has been the stopping point and has been since I first installed everything.

I log in with my username/password and get an immediate error message telling me that the username/password is invalid. If I cancel that log-in box, the ANT agent will then continue the upload and I am then able to log into Garmin Connect (using the same username/password I just tried) on the website and manually upload the data.

So I have my data, I’d just really like the convenience of the auto-upload.

I’ve looked at everything … firewall, re-installing software, changing username/passwords, etc. I just can’t seem to resolve this … nor can Garmin support.

Has this happened to anyone else? Any techies who might have some thoughts?

I had the same issue and called them. They remotely got on my computer and fixed it. There were some bad files that were causing the problem. I never could have fixed it myself.

Yeah … he was on my computer remotely as well. I was just shaking my head as he tried everything I had already tried. You don’t happen to know what files were bad or where they were housed do you?

Wait a min. The way my 310 uploads sounds different. Is it pulling the files to your computer 1st or going directly to the Garmin site? When my watch comes in proximity of the ant +stick it pulls the file directly to the computer and then uploads the file afterwards. The ant + agent then asks if i want to go to Garmin connect to view my data. Sounds to me like a connection issue with the website…

You mentioned re-installing the connector plug in several times. Have you tried to re-install the ant + agent?

I had a somewhat similar problem.

In my case there was a single .fit file that was jacking things up and wouldn’t let any be sent to garmin connect.

I figured out the offending file by trying to upload the files one at a time from my computer to garmin connect. I then opened the offending file in garmin training center and resaved as a .tcx and everything was fine.

Good luck

I upgraded from the 305, so this is my first time I should have the convenience of the wireless upload. It sounds like the 910 does an auto-upload to GC that the 310 may not do. To facilitate that, you are asked to provide your Username/Password the first time you instigate an upload. When I provide that, I get the error message. Then I cancel the GC dialogue box and the ANT agent completes the upload. It doesn’t ask me if I want to go to GC, but I can go to the site, log in, and manually upload the data that has been pulled by the ANT agent.

I agree that there is something happening with the connection between the GC plugin and the site itself.

I’ve asked the question on the Garmin forum as well, and will update here if I get anything figured out.

Try deleting these file from the Garmin folder on your computer. I had similar problems with auto transfers to GC and this helped.

Also, what Browser are you using when you manually uplaod?

Right but you have to install 2 things for this work. The Garmin Connect software and the Ant + agent/Driver. I would un-install everything Garmin related and the re-install in this order:

Ant + Agent and then the Garmin connect software. T

The Garmin Connect software is nothing more than a web browser plug in. The ant + agent is the driver that allows the stick to operate. another thought I had was you could delete all your temp internet files and cookies all though that is a long shot…

Will try this. Thanks!

I’m using Chrome.
