After a run when I download the data I will have multiple laps without
ever touching the lap button. Is this an indication of low battery, or do
I need to tighten the strap so it doesn’t jiggle. What gives?
Are you using the “auto-lap” function? What software are you downloading the data into?

There is an autolap function you can set. I have mine set to ‘autolap’ every mile. When I upload my data from a run, I can see my splits by miles.
Don’t know if this is the issue but if your autolap setting is turned on, it will automatically record laps if you pass your start location again during your ride.
For example, when racing a criterium, the autolap feature will record a lap every time you go around the course whether you touch the button or not. Same thing happens if I pass back by my house after starting the timer.
Again, don’t know if this is your issue but just a thought…
Edit: As usual, slow on the draw since two others beat me to it.
The laps are erratic varing from 200-300ft to a mile.
Having just started using the garmin wasn’t aware of auto lap
Checked and apparently was on, have turned off . Will be going
for a run shortly in the rain(hopefully it won’t start lighting and
thunder like it did all nite and this morning) hopefully that fixed
the problem.
Thanks Mike
To hijack your thread… I used my Garmin FR305 at the Rattlesnake Olympic race last weekend. It was set to multisport (other, bike, other, run) with auto-lap set to 1 mile on the run.
Looking at the data in Garmin’s Training Center software, everything looks correct except the big graph. I am pretty proud of my 33 second T2 (34 officially :), but I don’t think I approached the 10,000mph shown in the graph!!! And transition is 262 feet, not another 26 miles! The map is correct, without any stray points shooting off in the distance.
Any thoughts on what happened?

That is bizarre. I would guess that its a bug on Garmin’s side. I think their graphing engine is reading the 262ft as miles and then the scale is going all crazy b/c of it. The graph also shows some negative speed…not sure how one manages that either
anyways, I would check to see if there are updates for the software and if that doesn’t work I’d open a ticket up with Garmin. Their tech support is pretty good in general.
