Its low cost because they are refurbish models.

refurbished/recertified items come with full warranty and have been checked out much more thoroughly than items that just come off the assembly line and ship out. i don’t have any problem with this and would still recommend the product.

Hmmm…well considering you could get a 305 with HRM for $160 brand new from Costco…or for $183 from Amazon right now buying a refurb isn’t such a great deal. Sorry but something that has been returned because it BROKE doesn’t sound like a good deal to me, especially not on a high vibration item that probably had some components resoldered, etc. There’s a world of difference between a good wave solder machine and a rework tech, not to mention possible PCB damage, etc. As a manufacturer in the electronics industry I’d never buy a refurb…just my $0.02.

It is a good deal. Refurbished products are almost always as good as a “New” product.

I got my Garmin 305 + cadence sensor for under 205 from erwincomp.com. It would have been 189 but I had it mailed 2nd day air.

Thank you.
Andy

I love my 305. I only wish it were waterproof…but for tri training, I have not found an equal. I have a refurbished one, and never had one problem with linking to satelites, heart rate monitor, or cadence sensor, nor have I had any water intrustion.

Good luck.

Some of those refurb units have been submerged in water by their previous users and are a part of a reason that the unit is being returned. You are likely to end up getting one of those. And no, they are not that thorough with refurbishing. They replace/resolder only what they have to. I was told this by a tech over the phone from Garmin. I live two blocks from their headquarters and talk to them every now and than. I am a 305 user. $160 new is a way to go. Just my 2c.
