Galloway's marathon training

No, I will not use the search function. So who has done it? Who hates it? Who loves it?

Is that the program where you can do a fair amount of walking and still call yourself a marathon runner?

I have used it. I love it. Got me to Boston and set a BQ and PR for the distance at Boston using it.

Dave

So you had no problem with the length of the long runs
.

Not sure your question. Training, never have run over 2 hours of LSD before a marathon.

In a Half marathon, I just go for it. But what I found in a full marathon, if I took
like 15 seconds fast walk breaks per mile, and ate, it really helped my legs not fall apart.
The one time I did not use the method, I limped in.

Like anything else on ST, some love it, some hate it. But, each person has to find what works best for them.

If it is so bad, I wonder why ultra folks walk as much as they do, guess they are not “real” runners. :o)

Dave

Well because an hilly (with few exceptions) marathon would be considered flat or downhill for an ultrarunner…
I did some walking @ American Zofingen on that 15-mile run…

Fred.

I was just joking meaning, whatever gets a person to the finish line the fastest is all that matter.

Dave

Which plans? In Galloway’s Book on Running he has several fairly aggressive plans with lots of speedwork and several over distance runs, with no walking. I used one of those plans and did fairly well. These plans are quite a bit different from his more recent plans.
