A guy that I knew years ago and I are facebook friends today. He recently ran a Half Marathon and posted about it on his FB status.
I sent him a note congratulating him on running the race and asking if he had a good time.
He sent me a message back saying " had a great time…I beat your half marathon by almost 20mins."
I couldn’t think of what he was referring to, my half marathon PB is 1:50 and I haven’t run a half in more than a year. I asked him what he meant by that and he said “You ran your half marathon at the Muskoka 70.3 race in 2:30, I ran my half Marathon in 2:13.”
My wife read the comment on my wall and lost it. I just laughed. My wife says I should write him and make sure he knows I swam and rode before starting that half marathon. I figure he knows and is trying to be funny.
Hey, next HIM you do make sure to really dog the first 2 legs then power in a really fast half at the end and see how he feels when your split is faster than his stand-alone.
At least you can laugh about it and your buddy feels better about himself.
But, I think if the guy was trying to be funny he’d realize your PB is 1:50 and he is stupid for writing something like that. But again, the most important thing is he feels better about himself
I wonder if he facebook friended the winner and wrote, ‘wow you beat me by an hour and 10 minutes. good job.’
No - Professor Chaos was constantly having his plans foiled by his trusty sidekick (who’s name escapes me presently) as it was repeatedly pointed out that all of his plans had previously been featured in Simpson’s episodes.
That would be General Disarray. Wait, so are you telling me the South Park guys copied from someone!!! NOOOOOOO!!!
OK, I’ll concede defeat. Let’s let this thread get back to the true matter at hand. Whatever that was, oh yeah, facebook marathon times, or something like that.
A girl that I know had her MSN status as “In post race recovery mode” for a couple of weeks. Then she put up some photos of the race in her facebook and one of them was showing her crossing the finish line in 3:18. Last time I had seen her, She didn’t look like someone in a shape to run a marathon in that ballpark, so being impressed, I got really curious to know what other races and times she had prior to her marathon. Checked her on Sportstat only to find out that she had run the half marathon of that race. What exactly she needed two weeks to recover from is beyond me.
