Hello, I have read a lot about the transonic, but I was curious if anyone here had any experience. I currently have a supersix EVO and an old Cervelo P2SL and I was thinking of replacing both with an aero road bike. I really like the Felt AR, but it is way more expensive.
I found a transonic ultegra used near me for $700, or I could pick up just an AR1 frameset for more than that. Some reports show the transonic as aero as an S5, and others not close. Any thoughts?
I cannot comment on actual tunnel data for actual aero measures, etc. Just my anecdata…
My Felt roadie was stolen a few years back, so I began the search for a new ride.
I tried the tarmac, madone, supersix, cervelo S3, the cheap Pinarello, etc. I had a spreadsheet with 15 bikes on it, and the damn Fuji kept popping up. It was my chance to score a big-brand ride, but the “cheap” Fuji kept sticking on my short list.
So I rode it 3 different times, and concluded it was too good of a bargain to justify one of the higher price point steeds.
I grabbed the 2.5, and with the savings, got Ultegra Di2 and some aero wheels, and haven’t looked back. Cruising up my local climbs, it was right on par for my Strava segments, so the bike didn’t cost me any time. It’s comfortable, handles well on my curvy mtn roads, and climbs fine for my meager abilities.
The only knock for me is the 17 “Fuji” logos plastered all over it.
So if you can’t tell, I’d wholeheartedly recommend it.
Absolutely love my Transonic. Great value, haven’t had a single issue with it for 5k miles. It gets compliments all the time. I do sometimes wish the logo was a lil more subdued, but it’s not as bad as some of the rolling billboards out there. lol
Sounds good. How much less aero is this than an AR, S5, or propel? Some tests show nearly equal to those, and other tests show considerably further behind.
I assume this would be faster than my EVO, but would I lose much from my old Cervelo P2SL if I did an occasional tri on this?

The tests that show it further behind all used a round bar on the Transonic and aero bars on the other bikes which is a huge aero hit. The Transonic frame itself is very fast. True sleeper of a bike.

Almost all of the performance difference between road bikes and Tri bikes is from posture. “Aero road bikes” are not substitutes for Tri bikes.
If you re-fit the aero road bike to have a roughly Tri-like fit every time you do a Tri on it, then the question is mostly how closely your bodge “Tri” fit replicates your correct Tri fit. But actually doing this is a pain in the butt.
A tri bike would be better for triathlon races than a Fuji Transonic because of geometry/fit. If you want a road bike, the Transonic would be fine and has similar geometry to a Tarmac along with a good aero frame.
I have a 2015 Transonic that I am selling in the classifieds. I replaced it with a 2013 Trek Domane 6.2 valued around $2000 because I want a more relaxed geometry/fit for age 65-70. If I didn’t want the easier fit/ride, I really couldn’t justify spending $1000 more. Both bikes are good. The Transonic is more of a crit/road bike as far as nimbleness/twitchiness goes. Road with the A/B groups for the last four years and the Transonic did not hold me back.
