I have a two bottle Fuel Belt - maybe 6 months old - and the wide black elastic that holds in one of the bottles has lost the ability to keep the bottle in… The bottle keeps popping out. Anyone else run into this issue with Fuel Belt? I got them at LBS and they tried to return it for me (for a replacement) but cannot get Fuel Belt to warranty it… Seems to be I ought to be able to get more than 6 months use out of it…
I haven’t had this problem, but just started using a helium fuel belt that I bought a while back and the nozzles on the bottles leak when closed…they’re sending me replacements so hopefully the new bottles won’t leak.
I’ve had mine for 3 years and have never had a bottle pop out. But my elastic is beginng to lose its stretch to the point that it may beging to happen soon. I have been through more than my share of bottle caps, but I have the old design with the small opening. I am not sure if the newer wider opening caps are mor durable. I would hope that they are.
I’ve had my bottles pop out during a run if I didn’t get them back in all the way. More common for me is pushing the bottles in all the way and then having the elastic at the bottom squirt to the side so that the bottle falls out the bottom. I may change to a Nathan hydration running belt if I continue to have problems as they have a flexible plastic type of bottle holder.
Used to have a Fuel belt. After the elastic stopped working, I switched to a Nathan belt. You can get the bottles in and out with one hand. Much easier. Mine is still going strong after nearly 2 years of running an average of 25-30 miles per week.
jay is that you?
anyway my fuel belt had similar issues with bottles kind of bumping out, i put a small velcro button on the bottom on the pouch and the bottom of the bottle. adds very little weight and provides just enough grip so they dont move. never had a problem rippin it outa ther either
Get an Amphipod belt, problem solved=) i like the Fuel Belts but their bottle in and out is a major pain…
Nathan is a better system - toss the FB in the garbage.
x2 for the Nathan. I had that problem repeatedly until I switched to Nathan. No dropped bottles in two years now.
jay is that you?
Yes, it's me. Who are you? I clicked your profile, but you haven't filled anything out.
As a follow up, received a nice email from Vinu (below) and a replacement belt/bottles, etc. Goes to show that corporate is the place to go and that they do take care of their customers… Debt of thanks to Fuel Belt and add them to your list of providers that stand behind what they sell…
Hi There,
My friend just sent me the Slowtwitch link to your post. Tell me what your waist size is and we’ll get you a new belt. Bottles should NOT be popping out and it should last several years. We’ll get it straightened out for you directly. Just send us your waist size, color pref for the belt and your address.
Thanks!
Vinu

That is great customer service!!! Glad to hear.
I tried the amphipod belt at Boston. Could not get the darn bottles on and off easily. Returned it.

I used to have a 4 bottle belt. The back two popped out on me during a race. However, I was not to be deterred, and I went with the belts that have the extra elastic band that goes over the top to secure it in place. In particular, I’ve become fond of the Revenge 1. It holds 3 bottles and 1 gel bottle. For half marathons, I pretty much only need 2 bottles and the gel bottle. Works fantastic!
No comment on the Nathan but it sounds like some people like that one. Fuel Belt is what I’m sticking to for as long as they last me.

Ha, yeah, you have to get used to the Amphipods. Best is to pinch the bottle top and it comes right out. If you grab the whole bottle the retention does it job and won’t let go. Once you figure it out they are truly no look one handed bottle transfers. Best part is the cap though as they get a ton more fluid flow than the fuel belts… I like the Fuel belts but it takes to much effort to get the bottle back in sometimes and the caps on the bottles suck. They sure are nice minimalist belts though!
X2 fuelbelt customer service rocks
