FSOT: 56 Cevelo P3 alu - The fastest alu bike money can buy - $1,400 - MAKE AN OFFER

OK, maybe not. But still ridiculosly crazy fast.

To assist me in showing you why you need this bike, I have created a flow chart:

My days of being that dark horse (yeah right) are over. It’s time for me to take my 52 minute split (cough cough!) and see what I can do with it on another frame. Hopefully a speed concept.

Now, re: this beautiful yellow P3:

I bought the bike from a man who used to race. 5 years ago. Then he hung it up and sold it to me. I raced on it once this past summer and it’s just as fast as everyone says it is. This is my second P3 aluminum and this bike is a MISSILE. It’s fast. It is arguably the fastest aluminum triathlon bike ever made, and still faster than many carbon frames. It’s sleek. It’s sexy. It’s light. It’s aluminum. It’s your next weapon of choice.

The bike is in very nice condition. However, when the frame was shipped to me, the previous owner didn’t pack the wheels very well, and a skewer slid around in the box and scraped off some of the paint right above the “r” on the drive side. Also, there is some wheel rub inside the well.

Specs:

The bike is outfitted with a full 9-speed campy chorus drivetrain

Front mech: Campy Chorus
Rear Mech: Campy Chorus
Chain: Campy Chorus C9 chain
Cassette: Campy Chorus 9 speed
Brakes: Updated to Cane Creek 200SL
Cockpit: Cinelli Angel or Vision Trimax 250mm new bike Take-off (Add $40)
Brake levers: Tektro Carbon levers, Sram TT500 Red levers (add $20), Vision aero levers (add $35)
Shifters: Campagnolo Record 9-Speed
Wheels: Mavic Open Pro, laced to Campagnolo hubs
Crankset: Campy Chorus 172.5 (not currently pictured)
Saddle: Black tt saddle or Cobb V-Flow (pictured) (add $50).

I would like to get a mere ** $1,400 Shipped** for this sweeeeet ride.

Willing to split up if you’d like, willing to trade for Quarq as well.

Cheers!

Didn’t this just sell for $730 including shipping on eBay today? Pretty shady considering you didn’t have a reserve on this auction…

Yeah I learned my lesson, not gonna relist it without a reserve!

Only 2 people were bidding, the guy who was the high bidder asked me to remove his bid but it was too close to the end of the auction so I wasn’t able to. I’m luckier than he is

Nothing shady, no worries.

Fair enough, although there’s a lot going against you.
Aluminum
Campy
9 speed (= old)
no race wheels
Good luck on the sale though

Aluminum
True.

Campy
Some people prefer campy though?

9 speed (= old)
Closer to a fixie!

no race wheels
I know :frowning:

Good luck on the sale though
Thanks!

FWIW…I tried selling my P3SL as a complete build for $1,200 and not a single bite on eBay or here. Put the frame up for $750 and was gone before I could take a dump. Parting out is almost always easier to sell AND gets you more bang for the buck. If memory serves my part out was around $1,500ish vs trying to sell complete with $1,200 not getting a nibble.

If you go SC your wrench skills had better be polished and honed! Don’t own one, but have watched and listened to my pal in Indy lament his non-stop trips to the Trek dealer to get problem after problem dealt with. Good luck…and enjoy…bike shopping is way fun.

Lucky for me my LBS is a trek dealer

That and I have a lot of time on my hands!

And thanks for the tip, I’m definitely accepting offers on the frame.

What do you ride now?

Roadies only and an MTB. Specialized Secteur for long stuff, Soloist SL for crit/hard fast rides and a vintage Tommaso which I will take to the grave. No more tri for me so when I sold the P3 that was it. The only frame I felt that was faster than the P3SL was my Zipp. The tri departure is mostly due to knees, but I can’t see in the aero position. My setup on the P3SL was so comfy it was ridiculous, but with 14cm of drop I couldn’t see due to my diminishing ability to wear contacts. Tried bonding lenses inside aero shield, can’t wear contacts due to dry eyes…nightmare. So, the reality was I may as well ride a road bike b/c that’s about as far over as I can get and still see through Rx. Oh and I’m not a candidate for LASIK due to my chronic dry eyes. Oh well, enjoy cycling more than tri so it’s a win!

My experience was the opposite. I had a Cervelo Eyre, which was the predecessor to the P2K. It was ancient (1999), with 650c wheels, 9sp Ultegra, no rear wheel cutout. I bought it on ebay in 2002 for $800 and sold it on ebay in the Summer of 2010 for more than $1000 (that did include training wheels). It seems like it’s just a crapshoot. This bike is certainly worth more than mine was. But I was happy to get what I did and threw in a bunch of extras for the buyer because I felt like I was getting a lot.

Bump?

Taking offers on the frameset/complete as well…

Just shoot me an offer, it can’t hurt.

Still got this.

I think its priced about right. I sold my wife’s stock p3sl all stock for $1200+PayPal fees and shipping about a month ago. You probably would do better parting it out but I know its a pain. There is a market for 9sp campy.
Good luck. That is a great bike.
