I’m replacing my current Jet wheel set with the Flamme Rouge version. This set is in near new condition and maybe has 300 miles on it between last season and a couple of early races in 2010. When not on the bike for racing they live in a padded wheel bag. Both have low-mileage Bontrager Aero wing TT tires and latex tubes that will be included along with Hed skewers. I’d prefer to sell as a set but am not opposed to splitting if I have buyers for both. I’ll get some pics posted tonight.
Pair - $1400 + shipping
Front - $650 + shipping
Disc - $800 + shipping
I’m not about to step in the way of your capitalistic endeavors here but why the heck would you sell a perfectly fine set of Hed wheels for the FR version? Hed has done many things right, the FR is not one of them. The least amount of bang for your buck imaginable. You will pay an extra $300 for a 10 gram weight loss for the rear wheel and $200 extra for 39 grams less on the front wheel. I do get that the bearings are nicer and all that, which may result in a longer life for the wheel but it isn’t any lighter.
Is 49 grams (1/10th of a pound) worth $500? You could get a hair cut and save more weight.
I’ve been looking a little more into it and basically coming to the conclusion that you are driving at - apparently the Flamme Rouge version doesn’t really offer anything substantial for the extra cost. The $$$ doesn’t bother me but I need to get something for it. Most likely not selling the wheels at this point. Sorry if anyone got excited to buy them.
