FS: Empella Bonfire SL Cyclocross bike -54cm (fits like a 56cm) - DA 7800, etc

Toying with making the jump to disc brake CX, so my current rig is essentially ready to go.

This is a serious race rig that has served me well both on the east coast, and now the west coast. The frame is an Empella Bonfire SL in a 54cm, which due to CX sizing fits like a 56cm road bike. It’s built up with DA 7800 shifters and Ultegra rear derailleur; crank is an Easton EC90 carbon crank with a single ring 42t chainring and dual chainguard. YOU WILL NEVER DROP A CHAIN WITH THIS BIKE (guess what used to happen to me all the time when I raced). No front derailleur, naturally. Post is a Pro PLT carbon/aluminum, stem is a 110mm Specialized Alloy OS stem and the bar is a aluminum ControlTech ergonomic bar. Brakes are TRP EuroX Carbon cantilevers.

Wheels are SOLD

Saddle is a Fizik Arione.

This bike is a legit, lean, mean CX race machine. If you’re not familiar with Empella, they built some of the best CX specific frames in the last 10 years.

Bike can be shipped, or delivered to any PDX/OR area cx race. In fact, if you’re racing Alpenrose… I’ll be there, with this bike! Take it home with you!

Price drop - now just $1000 for the whole bike (will include a set of Shimano RS80 carbon/aluminum wheels), $350 for the frameset. Tubulars are already sold.

Also, apologies for some of the dirt/dust - I cleaned it off fairly well for the pics, but the first few months of CX season are dry and dusty here, and it shows on the crank.

How old is the bike and components?

Ed K

Varies depending on the part of the bike you’re talking about. I got the frame in 2008, handlebars and brakes in 2009, seatpost in 2010, Shifters/Der in 2010, and the crank, wheels and tires were all new in the last year.

Total usage on the frame is 2.5 seasons of CX.

Do you have more photos?

Ed K

Not til next weekend.

Nice rig. Do my eyes deceive me or does the frame have bottle bosses on it? Would be the first empella I’ve seen that had them.

I’m impressed - with both your eyes and knowledge of Empellas! You’re right, they do have bottle cage bosses - they were added by the previous owner of the frame - done professionally though, not some hack job - they look stock.

I would never have committed that kind of heresy on an Empella myself… but I got what was, at the time, a great deal on the frameset - so beggers can’t be choosers.

Bump for more photos!

how much for the HED?

Taking offers on the wheels for now since the frame hasn’t sold.

Bump for price drop, individual prices.

Bump for final price drop for the bike!

Hey there… Wheels/Tires still available? ARe they ready to ride this year, or need to be re-glued? Good condition?

Sorry, wheels are sold.

Bump! Buy the frameset for $350 shipped and I’ll toss in a brand new Zipp Service Course SL seatpost.
