Has anyone did this? My wife talked about a 3 week cleanse with nothing other then fresh fruit and veggies. I guess I could sauté the veggies. I am thi ki g about doing it but have been a meat eater all my life. Well i am a anything eater all my life I can’t say no to good food. Hoping to shed some weight and and feel faster and better over all.
Why skip the meat? Why don’t you just go the Paleo route?
I’ve tried a 3-day “fruit cleanse” which was challenging enough (much less 3 weeks). Might start with it and see how it goes:
Friday
8a, 10a, 12p, 2p, 4p, 6p - 6 oz protein shake
9a, 11a, 1p, 3p, 5p, 7p - 8-12 oz water
6p - Salad with protein (either egg or fish), avocado, olive oil and lime
Saturday
8a, 10a, 12p, 2p, 4p - 1 serving of fruit
9a, 11a, 1p, 3p, 5p, 7p - 8-12 oz water
6p - 6 oz protein shake
6p - Salad with protein (either egg or fish), avocado, olive oil and lime
Sunday
Same as Saturday, minus the 6p protein shake
Well my wife is thinking about doing it because some yoga friends are. Figured it would be easy to do of someone else is.
So protein shakes and egg would be ok ? Seafood is out of question because I will not eat my brother fishes. Kidding dad fishes a lot and I am fished out of fish and will not eat it anymore. Guess psychological reasons :0)
You may want to at least throw in some greek yogurt or chicken. Getting enough protein from plants would take some work.
Yogurt I can do . Chicken also but then I would want to fry chees and sauce it .

I stick to a pretty simple meal every night that involves chicken. Take a baking dish w/ lid and spray it with pam, throw in a chicken breast, plenty of veggies, top with fresh salsa, bake for 90-100 minutes. Best tasting and healthiest way to make chicken. I normally throw it over quinoa or brown rice, but you can just omit that.
Sounds good …very good in fact think I will make tommorow night.

To me a cleanse isn’t so much a diet as a detox/alternative to regular eating patterns. Sort of a short-term break. My goals were just to get a break from caffeine, sugars, etc. and see how it felt.
Don’t lay this on the wife, I met her and know she is too thin to be thinking of a diet.
Number114 she really did bring up the idea
.
so for people thinking about doing a cleanse, would you think the fruit/veggie would be alright or would you go a different route. I have been wanting to do a cleanse for a while but there are so many different versions out there. I could do the veggie/fruit thing for three days no problem with just water but to me a cleanse is about cleaning out the system and eating the fruit/veggies while being a healthy choice still is adding something into your system.
I agree this is my first attempt to research it a bit. I have done the store bought cleanse thing before but this sounded interesting and tastier at least.
My concern with a fruit/veggie cleanse is that you are still putting toxins into your body unless you are very specific in which fruits you are buying. I have heard about a maple syrup cleanse but honestly having nothing in my body other than maple syrup and water does not appeal to me.
The no coffee part has me a bit jittery. And coffee doe not even do that!
Yes I need to research which fruits and veggies. I guess organic would be better.
Here is one thing I found about it
Can you lose weight by eating fruit every two hours? The Fruit Flush Diet, often referred to as simply the Fruit Diet, is getting a lot of attention by promising an astonishing 9-10 pound weight loss in just three days.
“During the 3-Day Fruit Flush, your system is relieved of the digestive burden of eating other foods and can clean out its system while burning fat because fruit is nature’s perfect cleansing food," says personal trainer and certified clinical nutritionist Jay Robb, author of the Fruit Flush 3 Day Detox.

According to Robb’s book, which is available on his web site, nutrients in fruit help dissolve toxic buildup and the water and fiber content of fruit flush it out. He says following the 3 Day Fruit Flush will help flush out toxins that result from a diet of overly processed foods, artificial ingredients, alcohol, junk food, and more.
What makes this quick weight loss plan different from others is that it includes lean protein to spare the body’s muscle and help burn fat, says Robb, who is not a registered dietitian.
“When you eat fresh fruits, vegetables, and lean protein for 36 hours, you go into a fat-burning mode which preserves your muscle mass,” he says.
He acknowledges that about half of the 9-10 pound weight loss you can expect during the 3-Day Fruit Flush will come from water, especially if your diet is very low in sodium. (Some experts think this percentage could be even higher.) But Robb says the fast weight loss is a great motivator for anyone starting a long-term weight loss program.
The Fruit Flush Diet requires only two steps. On the first day, you drink protein shakes. This is followed by two days of eating fresh fruit every two hours, plus a dinner meal of raw vegetables and a small amount of lean protein or a protein shake.
The diet provides about 900-1,000 calories each day, with about 100-125 grams of protein on day one and about 50 grams of protein on the other two days, depending on the type of protein powder you use.
Robb’s 3 Day Fruit Flush diet is different from the diet he calls the Fruit Diet, a 14-day program with slightly more calories and an “accelerated fruit flush plan” consisting of unlimited fresh fruit during the day, plus an evening meal of protein, vegetables, salad, and healthy fats. But in general, whenever fruit is the foundation of a diet plan, it could be called a fruit diet. Some people follow an all-fruit diet for a day a week or three days a month.
The Fruit Flush Diet: What You Can Eat
Beyond fresh fruit, raw vegetables, protein drinks, and lean sources of protein, there is very little you can eat on the Fruit Flush Diet. Dairy, caffeine, coffee, tea, alcohol, diet and regular sodas, starches, cooked vegetables, juices, most fats, and all sweets are prohibited.
The body is very efficient. If you just switch to a “clean” diet of meat, veggies, fruit and whole grains, it is amazing how well you will do with having to go crazy and feel like crap.
Just try to reduce or eliminate processed foods for 2-3 weeks and see how you feel. And if you want something processed, make it yourself from raw ingredients (ie bread).
How does eating only 1 or 2 types of food clean up anything?
It does not seem that bad and the fact that you could have say half of a breast of chicken at dinner would not be that bad. If this works out you could potentially do this at the beginning of each month for 3 days. Maybe not the best during heavy training but I might look into this.
That could be good thing at the beginning of the month to do. But a lot of cleansing diets seem to be for at least a month. As I said researching it a bit today and tommorow to start on the 1st.
I wouldn’t worry about the not eating meat thing. Most people eat too much meat already. I only eat meat on the weekends now and I put on 5 lbs of muscle last summer while doing that.
It comes down to calories for losing weight and healthy foods for effective nutrition. If you eat healthier with this diet I don’t see any reason not to try it, you may ever like it better than your current diet.
