Well, I have decided to go with a Reynolds disc in the rear, but can’t decide on my front. My choices are paying a couple of hundred dollars more for a new Reynolds SDV66 or buying my neighbors Shimano 7850 50mm at a discounted price (it’s new as well). I’m sure the Reynolds is faster being deeper and all, but will it really make that much of a difference?? For reference I average around 23mph on my TT. Thanks for your input.
Buy a used Zipp or HED. Either will be faster than those two choices.
Comparing 50-66mm, there probably won’t be that much of a difference between the two aero-wise. Which wheel has a better hub? Which is lighter? Which has a better spoke pattern? Or better yet, (as the poster above recommended) just get a Zipp 404. It’s 58mm and faster than both the DV66 and Shimano.
Zipp may be faster, but that’s not an option considering the price I will be getting on these!
In that case, get whichever wheel is the sexiest! Those are both very good wheels.
