So I’m attempting a new build on my road bike. First time doing this but I got a Dura-ace front derailleur from a friend but I don’t understand how it goes on. My old derailleur is mounted by a clamp from my seat tube but this derailleur doesn’t seem to fit onto the clamp. Can only certain derailleurs be mounted with a clamp from the seat tube? It’s a specialized allez from 06 or 07. I’m going to do most of the build myself but get my LBS to do the gearing, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Nick
Sounds like you have a braze on deurailler and that style will not work with a clap on set up. You need a clamp on deuralliur.
You can get a braze-on to clamp-on adapter. Usually around $10. Take your old FD, so the shop get get the right size for you.
