From the highest high to the lowest low

Somewhere in USA after IMFL I said to Geoff (my homestay): “its about a week
that I have been in US and I didn’t have seen a single car accident, in Portugal I
can see almost 1 per day”

Well guess what, on Tuesday I went for 60 min bike ride and took only 5 minutes
till I end the spin. I just remember being in the floor screaming with pain and
thinking “I can’t move, I’m all broken out”. I heard lots of people around me
saying “don’t move the ambulance is arriving”. I couldn’t move my left arm
and had a huge pain in my back and but. Later on the day someone told me that
I was hit by a car from the back.

After lots of x-ray the doctor gave me the only good news of the day “you don’t
have anything broken”.

Today I woke up with less pain and I could walk so I went to the police station
with my coach to pick up the bike, helmet and information from the guy that hit
me. Looking for the helmet and bike I had realized that I was so lucky to be in
one piece since everything was wrecked.

I guess I went from the highest high to the lowest low in just one week but hey,
I have to look for the good things… I have iron bones!!! :frowning:

Just another sad story from the roads,

Sergio Marques

Sergio,

My condolences to you. I hope you have a rapid recovery and don’t let this messy little incident keep you from coming back again.

Your bike was trashed and you can walk? The crash gods were smiling on you. I hope you didn’t do too much soft-tissue damage – some tears can take longer to heal than broken bones. Good luck with the recovery!

Glad to hear that you are doing okay, despite your unfortunate accident. Bikes can be replaced, but people cannot be. Just keep up your positive attitude, and you will be back in no time.
