Hey man, does that really work. Not to hijack the thread, but at the last Ironman Expo I went to, these hot Brazilian chicks in sexy outfits were selling those power bracelets. They tried to convince me it gave me some balance when she couldn’t pull me over. I told her I didn’t believe it. She said I should buy one anyways, I tolder her here “Jedi mind trick (her hot bod and sexy smile) would not work on me”. I almost bought it, but did not submit. But while working the aid station, a lot of guys had them on. Not a lot of women.

Do these things need hot women to sell them?

works as good as you think it does. Kinda like lyte replacement

They are great. The X (and Y) strips are super useful. I pack a few for every race. Don’t always need them, but they can be helpful. Plus, the tape is actually good for a lot of stuff other than the primary function of kinesio tape. it’s great for covering blisters, cuts, etc. because it’s really incredibly durable in water, etc.

As the effectiveness of kinesio tape, my experience has been nothing but positive. It doesn’t help with everything, contrary to how some folks sell it. I wrote a whole bunch of posts on it if you just search for posts made by me containing the word SpiderTech or kinesio.

Are you being funny or a dick? I’ve already conceded the link between electrolytes and hyponatremia I originally mentioned was not supported by the scientific studies. Unlike most, I have no problem admitting I was wrong, and I did quickly there. What more do you want? Don’t make me go Record10Carbon on you?

Thanks Jordan. I’ll keep the anciliary benefits in mind. I’ve had training days with cuts that I had to fashion crude bandages around only to have the sweat make it come off. This might be the answer.

I’m just poking at you

But I’m really not convinced that KT tape works beyond placebo formusculoskeletal problems but I do like Jordan’s idea as using it as a blister dressing
.

thanks for posting!

I use KT tape on my left knee pretty regularly…run it straight up form the shin and then “Y” split it around my knee cap. I do this because 16 years ago I had a lateral release on my left knee and my knee cap has always been “loose” as a result. This helps provide some stability and reduce irritation caused by the patella bouncing around.

But that is also not the claims that people have made about kinesiology tape…I even asked the guys at KT Tape to explain it to me at the recent NACDS Trade Show. They talked about “proceptive” feedback, etc and a bunch of other stuff such as “it is like another layer of skin”, etc. But i have yet to hear a biomechanical / physiological explanation of how kinesiology tape works.

If I was honest, I think it is a fashion statement for many people that says “I’m serious about my training”.

I know, and deserved the ribbing I got for making such a blanket statement. But damn those articles were too long to read yesterday, and my impulse control problem prevented me from waiting until I had all the facts.

Maybe we can get Rapp in here and testify how well it works…
