Looking for a little help from the math whizzes…
is there a way to predict running pace from a VO2max test? More precisely, during a VO2 test you run a certain pace up an icreasing grade until you tap out. So if I weigh 150 lbs., run 8 min/mile up a 10% grade, how would I translate that to 5% grade or 0%grade?
Thanks

Assuming two things:
-
You want an accurate answer; and
-
You want to actually run and train and do something with this piece of information.
Then – go to the track and run as far as you can in six minutes (do a deep warmup first). Divide the number of meters you ran in six minutes into the number 9,642. The answer is your minutes-per-mile pace at VO2max (accurate to within 5-10 seconds per mile).
In other words, go out and do a VO2max test of your own. You don’t need any equipment, just a watch.
