Formula 1 Monte Carlo

Parents are turning 80 next year. Sister and I were thinking of sending them to see the F1 race in Monte Carlo. I know its not the most exciting race to watch I think they would love just being there and they really love Monte Carlo. Has anyone gone with a tour company or a vacation package? Would like to go with something packaged (hotel, tickets, viewing area/hospitality tent) I’m sure its chaotic the week of the race and feel a package with everything combined would be easier for them.

I work the F1 races in the States (flag marshal so no special access internationally).
I think you’re wise to look for a package.
We’re at the track early and late so i can only imagine the chaos to see the race.
Monte Carlo would be great for the spectacle of F1.
I can reach out to international marshals for any insights. Just let me know

Sounds like a great idea and Monte Carlo is on my bucket list to see F1. Heading to Las Vegas this year.

Great idea for a gift and incredible your 80-year-old parents are in that kind of shape to do that kind of trip. Healthy folks,

See you in Vegas!
No idea what corner I’ll be working.
Where will you be?

Wherever my buddy who is organizing the trip tells me to be. He bought and paid for all of it and we pay him back. I think we will be near the Bellagio and turns 14 and 15.

Maybe Verstappen will stop running people off the rode by then.

We expect a full report. I have not been to an F1 race for 30 years. My son and my nieces all want to go and I am trying to figure out a race for next year. Either Silverstone or Vegas but gosh this stuff is expensive.

@mattr make sure your parents are prepared to walk a lot. You can buy some super expensive packages that have you in a hotel on the course but most people take the train in for the race and walk to their stand.

I came close to pulling the trigger on Silverstone this year, but it just became too expensive. Also seeing as Silverstone is outside of London, have heard the roadways to the track are like parking lots and you have to sit around for hours in traffic waiting to get in.

Vegas we can hopefully see from many locations and maybe even our room at the Bellagio, but we tickets for one of the viewing sections.

F1 weekend in Montreal is a lot of fun.
That may be a cheaper option.

I have been to Silverstone for work, not F1. There is not a whole lot to do other than the race and it’s a ‘hike’ to get there and park.

I can easily see that package costing at least $20K for just a couple days in Monte Carlo.

I like your optimism. Glad to see him held accountable yesterday.

@Nutella I’d prioritze Silverstone over Vegas.
Vegas seemed soleless to me last year due to lack of crowd.
The experience might have been different in the bleachers, but the resorts that were charging $10k for their access made it a “look at me” event versus a race event.
At least that’s what I observed at T12 last year.

Caesars offered me two of their seats to watch the race if I would come gamble.

I’ve been to F1 in Monte Carlo and it is a near religious experience if you are into racing.

A tour or package would the way to go. Access is very limited and it’s not easy to get around town.

That is what I have heard.

I spent the weekend doing some research on Silverstone. The logistics sound painful…and the UK weather. Now checking out Austria.

The costs are just nuts. The last F1 event I went to was Imola, the weekend Senna died. I only went to practice and qualifying as tickets were like $50 but I skipped Sunday because they were like $100…now excuse me while I tell some kids to get off my lawn.

Tell me you’re a whale without telling me you’re a whale. Bet you have dropped a few dimes at that establishment over the years.

I think Mexico City could be fun, but I might be biased.

I heard they treat the marshals well, maybe too well. After the race, there is a tequila party for marshals. I heard a rumor that many marshals pass out on the track

I keep track of all my gambling and I am up $1,800.

What is your biggest win and loss

I play craps in a hybrid style, so it is hard to win or lose a lot of money.

Biggest win was $3,100.

Biggest loss was $1,800.

Every once in awhile I will play straight dark or straight light and will parlay. That is when i can win a decent amount if the dice roll the right way.

That doesn’t sound like a whale to me. Why are they offering you free F1 Tickets at those amounts? Do you go several times a year?
