Fork Wolf TT vs CL

Any difference ?

Weight and composition. TT is carbon, CL is described below.

Check out the knowledge base @ cervelo. Complement with the TT is about the same weight as the SL in Carbon as well.

I upgraded my Soloist Team from the CL to the SL.

From the Cervelo knowledge base “For the Soloist Team, Soloist Carbon and SLC-SL the choice is pretty simple; the Wolf series of forks has the best aero shape available and passes all the tests Cervélo has for fork and fork/frame combos. Depending on your budget, you can opt for the Wolf CL or SL. The Wolf CL has the strongest steerer in the industry (hence the CL or Classic name) made from TrueTemper’s newest ultra high-strength Platinum OS material. The lightest option is the Wolf SL, 320g without sacrificing strength or stiffness.”

The CL fork weighs in around 440 g.

Thank you very much.

I forgot what Wolf forks were… are they Kinesis forks?

The Wolf forks are made by Cervelo.

they look a lot (but not completely identical) to the profile design bdc? I may be getting the three letters wrong.

The Wolf forks are made by Cervelo.
Cervelo doesn’t make bikes or forks, they design them. The fork is made by another company in Asia, and I thought it was Kinesis.

From Cervelo Site

There is not that much to upgrade to from the Wolf TT. The Wolf TT was designed to be the fastest shape of any fork on the market, UCI legal or not. It is not the lightest fork, but the aerodynamics outweigh the weight difference easily. That’s why all Team CSC riders use the Wolf TT for their time trial bikes, and why in just a few short months it has won stages in the Giro, the Tour and four Ironmans (and nobody is even sponsored to use the fork). If you are really set on getting a lighter fork, you might want to consider the Wolf SL. It uses the same airfoil section as the Wolf TT, but has an even smaller frontal area and it weighs under 350g with a full steerer.

So as an overview:

Wolf TT (retail USD 275) - great aerodynamics
Wolf CL (retail USD 375) - same Wolf airfoil shapes, but even smaller frontal area and lighter
Wolf SL (retail USD 475) - same shape as the CL, but even lighter

For 2007, the Wolf TT will be standard on the Duals and P2 SL models. The Wolf CL will be standard on the Ultegra road bikes and the carbon TT bikes. The Wolf SL will be standard on the DuraAce road bikes. The P2 SL frameset will ship with the Wolf TT fork, the Soloist Team, R3 and all TT framesets will ship with the Wolf CL, while all other road framesets will ship with the Wolf SL.

Nope - Cervelo and Alpha Q forks are made by True Temper. Just pull your fork out (either Alpha Q or Wolf and look at the sticker on the tube)

A Wolf SL came with my Soloist C and that thing is really is super light when cut to size! After cut, mine was only 298g on my scale if I remember correctly and still “looks” fairly aero as well.

… I stand corrected. I googled CRT (Carbon Rooting Technology) as marked on the inside of the fork and got the truetemper website :

as below …

Alpha Q pioneered all-carbon forks and Carbon Rooting Technology CRT™. Alpha Q craftsmen were interested in carbon fiber as a component materialearly on in the development lab. Dismayed with the weight and performance of forks on the market- and unwilling to compromise by adding non-carbon materials to the fork structure- Alpha Q was committed to pushing known materials and manufacturing limitations.

Developing our first all-carbon fork in 1992, the team patented Alpha Q Carbon Rooting Technology CRT™ which integrates the steerer into the fork body using a rooting technique to provide continuous fiber throughout the fork for superb strength and incredible stiffness. This technology is used at the Alpha Q composite facility in El Cajon,California. Led by a team of carbon fiber specialists, competitive cyclists, triathletes and former aerospace engineers, Alpha Q continues to refine designs, materials, and manufacturing techniques creating the lightest, fastest components on earth

Wow - that’s a lot of info! I really like the Wolf SL fork. Super light, stiff and aero. What’s not to like? (well, the price if you are buying non OEM/new at $475, but otherwise a fine piece).

Gerard mentioned something about the Europeans recognizing the Alpha Q name more and the N. American market getting the forks badges as “Wolf”. True Temper just doesn’t cut it with a cool, catchy name
