Forget the Nike Air Vomero, check out the Asics Kinsei!

Ultimate cushion and ride in a more durable shoe. These things are incredible. Five stars *****.

(Disclaimer: I like cushioned shoes and replace running shoes frequently).

blah, I like the Vomero or the Asics Nimbus better:) I think I’m too light for the Kinsei, the forefoot was too stiff for me. But then again a couple of the girls in the shop I very very part time am an employee at absolutely LOVED the Kinsei. I have to admit it has an really nice fit, good arch support and a great upper. Like Tom said, check it out, just don’t ask the price until after you’ve steadied yourself for a second and repeated “this shoe is awesome, this shoe is worth it, I am worth it” three times while deep breathing.

FWIW I was at Roadrunner today and saw a BUNCH of these in the once worn/returned rack (as well as a bunch of Nike Air Cesium). I wear Asics so I noticed the Kinseis, but at $125 for used ($50 off) somehow I wasn’t tempted. Now if it turns out they last for 800 miles with zero breakdown, I might reconsider.

Well, if a person doesn’t like a softish shoe, they wouldn’t care for this. I can’t speak to the durability of these yet. They feel nice though.

175 for running shoes??? uhhh wow… thats about i can say.

They better last a really long time.

$165

I’ve had several customers tell me they’ve lasted longer than other shoes they’ve worn. This is compared to other high-end cushioned shoes like the ASICS Nimbus and the Mizuno Wave Creation.

It is expensive, but when you get an extra 50 - 75% of life out of them, that really changes the equation.

FWIW, the new Brooks Trance (due 7/1) is supposed to have an equivalent lifetime to the Kinsei, but tips the scales at $135. This is a high stability shoe though, not a cushioned shoe.

I was just looking at some Asics here in thailand. The color schemes must be different here. I wanted to buy some just for the way they looked. I like orange!

Kinsei was much too stiff for me as well. Great dissapointment.

This is quite a unique shoe for the fact that I think it is not a neutral shoe, yet not a stability shoe. It does not have any medial posting, yet is built with a plastic heel cup that works like a cantileiver system that controls the heel. I have found while fitting people it does not stabilize anyone with moderate overpronation, but think it works more like mizuno does in the neutral category (rider). It is super high cushioned, yet i really felt that controlling heel cup and it poked. Great shoe, but I didn’t think it felt quite as cushioned as the Vomero. The nike was very very very sponge-y.

Haha seeing people concerned about the price of tri- gear (shoes, in this case) is something I don’t think I’ve seen on ST before!

I can’t speak to the durability of these yet.

“Ultimate cushion and ride in a more durable shoe.”

???

They were sold to me as being more durable than the Vomero, but I can’t personally speak to whether or not they are more durable.
