For people with ovalized extensions, how do you mount your Garmin

To my chagrin, the Pro Missile Evo extension are ovalized, which simply won’t work with quite a few of the available mounting options.

A quick search turned up a mount sold from the GB (http://www.racewaredirect.co.uk/#/shop/4559567830/), but at almost $60, this seems a bit excessive.

There was another custom made, between the bars set up from the States, but it was $45.

There’s also a Profile Design Universal mount, but it doesnt seem as if it’d work with extensions having oval cross sections.

Anything else i’m missing?

Thanks in advance

Didn’t your garmin come with a quarter turn mount and some industrial rubber bands in the box? The rubber bands fit to whatever size and shape I want to mount the garmin to, and if you dont have that already; they’re not $60.

Looks like this person has the same bars, and maybe used a BarFly mount:

I was thinking that K-Edge might make something – and they have a variety of superb mounts – but looks like there aren’t many places on the PRO’s that have standard tube dimensions. Maybe write to K-Edge and the Bar Fly people to see what they recommend – I use both and think they make excellent products.

my arm would be right over the computer…

thanks for the suggestion. I’ll see if i can find out more about it.

RWD actually make good stuff, albeit pricey. it’s 3d-printed stuff…but the $ is in the design and the small market.

anyway, on the PRO bars you could get one of the UCM “knobs”. the plastic will bend enough to clamp to the oval extensions. Then, use your garmin mount as normal (with the rubber ‘spacer’ and 2 bands). i’d recommend using a dab of something like barge cement to make sure it is more likely to stay in place.

when you move up to a PC7 (or PC8), the RWD SRM/PRO-specific solution is pretty nice.

The Profile Design Universal Computer mount + your Garmin quarter turn bracket should work fine, oval or round extensions. Just cut it to length.

Thanks for the suggestion. How secure is the clamping mechanism? It really doesn’t show how things attach, though i found enough images of on google to suggest that it should attach securely

How secure is the clamping mechanism?

VERY secure. The clamping mechanism folds around your extension. You then screw the round barrel thing to it. The tighter you turn it, the tighter it gets. I’ve been using one for a number of years and never through twice about it coming loose.

I would totally agree. I’ve used one for 7-8 years now with no worries.

looks like the Universal Computer Mount it is.

Thanks again for the input

Did universal adapter work? I’m pretty sure they don’t fit the evo, too narrow.
