Okay all you guys who tell me you cannot find a velotron for sale at a good price. If this were closer to me, I would buy it.

What’s a velotron?

I’m sure bob is going to appreciate haveing his phone number here. 3k seems like quite a bit for a used trainer. How much does a new KICKR cost?
Yeah, 3k doesn’t sound like much of a deal at all. Computrainer or kickr can be had for 1/3 the cost. Use the rest for a good PM and some race wheels or maybe a coach.

I had to look it up, but it’s one of these apparently:
It looks like it’s come back-to-the-future from the 1980s. Genuine question, why would I buy one of these over a normal (more modern) trainer? Can I use it to power my house?!
I guess when you consider it retails for nearly 10k that’s a good discount
It’s neat looking but still, adjustability aside (we’ll take for granted we’re not talking about a fit shop that will have multiple users) what’s the benefit of this trainer?

They are great trainers, very accurate and no issues with rear tires. I prefer the SRM version we have at work, but that is out of range for a home user.
Of course a powermeter and computrainer is a much better use of 3k

Not sure I’ve ever heard anyone say that.

It has been said all the time.
To get a kickr that works, you need a power meter, so you are at least 2K. how much on resale.
Get a 10K velotron with is the gold standard for 3K, use, and resell for the same price. Such a deal.
So many folks seem to be spending so much time, and money, trying to get their kickr to work. I just ride my Velotron.

For somehting that is said all the time, I’m not sure I’ve ever heard that either. BTW, why do you care what the resale is on a piece of equipment that you are intending on using long term?
Also, most people who want to use power also want to be able to use it while they are actually riding outside. They’ll still need a PM for that anyway, so that doesn’t really factor into the cost. If they aren’t using a PM, then they would be just as well off with a dumb trainer.

Clearly as I sit here from surgery, I can have all the plans of how long I want to do this sport and things can happen and cause them to go out the window.
I have never said anything I use or do if good for anyone else. Some have just said you cannot find for a good price. I was just trying to help out if anyone was interested in one I ran across. No more, no less.
I could care less about having a power meter riding outside!
What fun would the world be if only one opinion was allowed?

I am suspicious of that statement also, I was under the impression that Dave does not read other people’s posts.
I could care less about …
Please, please, care less!
That thing looks ugly. I’d rather buy a Kickr
You are so clueless, it’s absolutely shocking you can put one foot in front of the other. Please care less about these things. You contribute nothing to the discussion.

Such bullshit. A very vocal and small minority of users with accuracy issues does not mean that’s the reality for the overwhelming majority of users who had no issues with the KICKR. Yes, probably worse than what I would consider an allowable tolerance and something Wahoo should have fixed sooner than they did. The firmware update pretty much fixed the issue people were having. You don’t need another power meter, and never did.

It’s actually quite a few people that have had issues and those without a PM to see real power are just clueless as to how inconsistent it is (is ignorance really bliss?). I find it very interesting that they used a rubber belt between the load generator and the cassette. That will heat up just like a tire and cause inconsistent resistence. If they did a direct drive, they most likely wouldn’t have had that issue.
Poor guy … it seems every time he posts people are all over him with negative things to say. Is he really that bad or out there? Can’t we just give him the benefit of the doubt? I think we as triathletes are typically odd balls with strong opinions so how is he different? I’m not saying he is right, but I’m scratching my head as to why all the resentment towards him. Anybody care to shed some light?

You’re new here, right?

He is a troll, plan and simple. He also has no clue about training, or basically any topic he discusses. He is passive aggressive and always plays the victim. He is a master of strawman arguments, this thread being a great example. Should I continue???
