For a bunch of Lionel stalkers you lot are useless...:-)

This should keep you all entertained now that it is race week. Let the overthinking of these results begin.

Who is Lionel?

I’m following Michelle Zambri’s world record pace.

14th place (Female) run looks like a Marathon Investigation candidate…!

.
I know,it was a hell of a run…Maybe she was saving herself so she dogged the swim and bike…

Yeah it’s pretty good that, he went 0.4kph faster over 32km than Joe Skipper did over 523km.

Women’s world record 5K is 14:11.15 by Tirunesh Dibaba.
Michelle could have broken it without the swim and bike.

Also the results calculate the pace based on a 6km run but it was 6.5km run.

Guessing the swim was long as well? Average swim times / 100m seem pretty slow in general.

I used to live in the city and have done this race many times, including the pleasure of getting crushed in 2nd the first time Lionel won it.

Swim times always seem slow. The first ~100m and last 100m are about knee deep, so you can’t swim, but its also a slow run through the water. Could also be long as I don’t think anyone really cared if it was accurate to the meter.

Course is entirely pancake flat with the run on paved paths through an old golf course now converted into a park.

Saw on instagram that Lionel was taking the bike/run easy. I’d imagine this is the case as he was only a minute up on second on the bike and didn’t have close to the fastest run.

Overall, this performance was pretty poor had he been going all-out, but I’d imagine it was more of a ā€˜going through the motions’ and getting back into the race-day rhythm. He would have known going into this that there would be no competition remotely close to him.

If you look at her bike split its ridiculously slow relative to everyone around. I’d bet that the chip had an error and added a bunch of her run time onto the bike. That, or she ran only one loop or something.

Youtube video just posted discussing the race. His cycling as I suspected isn’t at it’s peak as he has had to focus on his build for Tremblant. If he gets his slot, he’ll have 6 - 7 weeks to get it back to where it was with 400+ watt intervals.
I thought the run was pretty decent alternating from 3:12/km to 3:32/km (on his ā€œeasyā€ kilometers).

Really curious to see how he does next week, only 6 more days to go.

It is a two loop run course that I did last year and the year before. Always fun to see Lionel come out. My goal is to start second loop of run before Lionel finishes. My time was better than Lionel’s last year but the bike was 20 km last year LOL. The swim not sure it is ever that accurate and there may be a current on that you swim against but not with because of the way the swim goes and the harbor layout. When Lionel passes you going the other way on the bike he is a missile. Last time the run was 2 loops. Maybe the fast female did one accidentally? Doubt it was deliberate.

There’s a 400m-500m run from the swim exit to T1 that would be included in the swim time.
