I’m a swimmer during most of the fall and winter since that’s when my college season is. I went on my first run today and one of my feet wasn’t moving in the same neutral position as it usually did. While stretching i also noticed that my feet fell to the side when sitting with my legs out as opposed to how they used to point straight up. I think there’s something i need to stretch to help this but i can’t figure out how or what?
Does anybody know how to fix this or have experience with this and saw a physician (if so what kind, orthopod surgeon? podiatrist?)
You could see a chiropractor. It sounds like one of your hips is out of alignment. My high school coach used to realign me every day using that exact test- how uneven your foot flop to the side thing- is. I’m a competitive runner, going on for 24 years, now I have a chiropractor adjust me every now and then. It may happen to me because I have a 3/4 inch differential between my legs. Are your legs different lengths?
Wow, I must say that is a bizzarre description. My first thought was PTTD (Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction). You made no mention of pain - right? Need more info.
Agreed with other poster, probably hips. My feet fall to the side, differently too. It’s because I have slight hip dysplasia (sockets not quite deep enough). I can dislocate my hip if not careful (did once during Aikido).
