Has anyone had any success with keeping their goggles from fogging up that routinely swim in chlorine. I have tried a bunch of brands of goggles and a bunch of different de-fog sprays and wipes with little success. I keep a couple pairs that I only use in open water that stay fog free but would love to hear any suggestions for my every day pair. Thanks
Spit into them, the saliva coats the lens.
I have had amazingly good luck with Sable goggles over the last few seasons - I have a clear set for the pool, and tinted set for OWS, and neither set has ever fogged on me in the last 3 seasons.
No idea if this actually helps or not, but I heard this trick somewhere and have been using it for years… When I’m in the shower after a pool swim, I squirt both goggle sockets full of soap - let 'em sit while I finish my shower, then rinse 'em out and let them dry out ASAP.
Same with my OWS set - I rinse them out with a big gob of liquid soap when I get home after a race.
Always be careful to not touch the inside of goggles with you fingertips.
Otherwise, I’ve never had to resort to spit or any other treatment to keep them fog-free.
Cheers, Chris
If you use de-fog spray, be sure to rinse them out THOROUGHLY. Let some dry in my goggles before a race (time delay at the start) and didn’t get them completely rinsed. Probably only loosened the dried on film and then that 1-2 drops of water that always get in your goggles washed it into my eyes. Things got a little foggy during the swim, then went completely whiteout blind on the bike. Left me standing alongside the road totally sightless (and clueless about how to get back to transition). My only DNF…will never use the stuff again.
I use the spit technique and have swam fog-free for well over an hour.
I use a drop of baby shampoo in each. Get the little travel sized ones and bring them to the pool, a tiny dab in each lens, rinse it out, then swim away. Works for me every time.

x3 Johnson and Johnson - Soap as gentle as water on the eyes…
This. Sables are really good goggles. I swam in college and always wore swedes and speedo goggles but made the switch. The Sables do not fog up. They are a bit pricey but a very nice product.

Oh damn, the things you learn on this forum. Will definitely try this next time at the pool.
OP, been using the spit thing for a while - works well, goggles just sometimes get that filmy saliva buildup if you don’t rinse out in the shower after.
All my goggles fog up in the first 200 yds. After that, I tongue them and they stay clear.
Don’t get the inside of your goggles wet with chlorinated water. I think it eats away the anti fog coating. That’s why your open water goggles stay fog free.
I experimented with this once in high school and I was able to keep a pair fog free for a couple of weeks until I got the inside wet. But IMO, I don’t mind the fog and keeping the inside from getting wet is a bit of a hassle because you always have to remember not to do it.
I spit in my goggles before each swim (while they’re still dry) and the rub spit around to coat the inside of the lenses. Then rinse them out with pool water and put them on. I’ve never had them fog up, even if I take them off (for kick sets etc.) and put them back on multiple times per practice. Free and easy.

Am I the only person that think this sounds wrong?
Keep from touching the inside of the goggles as long as possible - they come with a film on them - once its gone they fog. Another option is to swim with a little bit of water inside the goggles - this takes some getting used to. none of the anti-fog items work - I use cheap sweedish goggles and replace them every few months.

I’ll second that. There’s a bad joke here waiting to happen. Can’t believe someone hasn’t jumped on that already.

x2 no fog problems ever. Even with goggles that fog up just walking onto the pool deck
I’ve had goggle fogging problems that spit wouldn’t solve.
A dab of soap from the locker room has yet to fail me. I do that regularly now on my way into the pool.
Sables are great and will eventually fog up. but good old spit does the trick.

One of the best two tips I picked up from hanging out on ST (the other being a wheel cover)
I have also used the shampoo on my Giro Selector visor and it worked great there as well.
