Flying with a Cervelo P3X

Anyone have suggestions for flying with a P3X? Bike box recommendations? How much disassembly do you do?

I’m about to fly with mine on Sunday. I got BikeBox Alan. I’m pretty sure desert_dude used the same for his. My wife only has to take off her pedals. I’m 6’1" and I have to lower my saddle and remove the rear der.

I have a PX and use a Scicon Aerocomfort 3.0…because I have an XL, I have to remove the extensions. I also remove the rear derailleur which is optional. Most people only remove their pedals.

This is where everyone will likely jump in to speak about the horrors of a soft-sided bag, but it has worked well for me for 20+ trips.

I have a medium one, and use bikebox alan aero easy, works perfect,
I only need to remove pedals and wheels, but I also remove chain and rear derailier, just why not…

The p3x is super easy to fly with especially in a Bike Box Alan easy fit. I unplugged everything, slid the extensions back, removed pedals and seat post maybe rear derailleur, don’t remember. Did a quick twist tie around the chain to keep it all together but did not remove it.

Was able to stick in a ton of stuff for training camps or vacation as well. usually just flew with that and a carry on even for a race + training camp trip or race + vacation with the wife trip.

IMO the P3x is one of The Best bikes & one of The Fastest Bikes out there currently. Too bad it never really caught on

Anyone use a trick case for their p3x? I have two and think it’ll work but not sure on the bar setup and if there’s enough slack to get the basebar to lay flat.

For those who have BBA Aero easy…any US dealers to keep the huge shipping fee down or sales at BBA?

I’ve got a P3X, flown with my bike on several occasions with the EVOC Road Bike Pro Bag (link below). You remove the wheels and pedals only. Never had any issues at all.
