The women’s elite list is looking good for this weekends race!
Lisa Bentley, Heather Gollnick and Isabelle Gagnon have signed up for the event. A 1/2 hour TV show will be aired on the Sun Network in Florida two weeks after the race. Florida Sports Publisher, Dave Ragsdale and former Professional Triathlete Alec Rukusuev will commentate the show.
Floirda’s Great Escape will take place this Sunday, March 5th starting at 8:00 AM. The race will award 50 spots for the Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon in California. You can still sign up for the event at www.usantc.com.
Even if you not able to race, come out to see the race. Z

I heard that John Reback might show up. John should have won the first Florida’s Great Escape, but he missed a turn on the run course and ended up running an extra 3 miles.
The men’s race will be interesting as no one will be favored. Lots of new people signed up.
David has to go back to Canada this week, so he will not be racing - I tried to get him to enter the “Has-Been” division, but he declined to let the other old guys have a chance to win.
He told me that he has been out riding the hills north of Clermont, but I’ve never seen him in work out gear at the NTC. Each time he comes to my office, he has a cup of coffee, a donut and his hair is perfect.
We do have a bunch of other Canadian’s racing this weekend.
By the way - I heard that there is a good chance that the bike course for Ironman Canada will be changed because of the wild fires planned in August! Is this true?
Also heard that a new announcer will take over for “the voice of Ironman Canada - Steve King” Hope the new guy is as good or better the Steve!

Yes, not sure about the announcing this year as it might be a bit dodgy at best but we’ll see and give it a chance. Might even see a few Gatorade table covers up here before IMC…
Steve will be racing next year and taking this year to train and have some time with Jean to have a few weekends to “have a life” for a change. I suspect we’ll see him at the top of the Richter Pass announcing cyclists so if you think about it we’ll have world-class announcing on the bike course and at the finish this year.
I dont know who Eganski is. Doesn’t Eganski do baseball drill videos that sell on espn or smthg…Fred Mcgriff is featured on the commercials as well…If Eganski knows Fred Mcgriff than there is know way I have a chance.

BottomFeeder, i’ll be happy if I don’t get eaten. But looking at the wave starts, it may be tough to do well if I have to go through the field. That and the fact that I can’t run or bike.
How do you get into the Elite field? That would be fun…
