my google searches are failing me. i’m trying to find a resort in florida that has proper lap pool. ideally near clearwater, but not super picky.
i did find the breakers near west palm, but its like 2k a night, which is a bit much.

Other side of the state but I have a membership here: https://www.pontevedra.com/stay/lodge
It’s not some mega resort with hundreds of rooms. It’s locally owned. There’s a sister resort about two miles north that gives you reciprocal access. That resort also has a golf course.
It has a lap pool on the non-beach side. The resort itself sits on Ponte Vedra Beach.
Check with the St. Pete Mad Dog Tri club. They do a lot of open water as well.
wow that looks really nice, thanks!
Florida has really nice public lap pools ALL OVER the place…including in the clearwater area. There are several really nice pools up in the Palm Beach Area too. If you’re open to it, just do a search for public city pools with lap swim in the area where you want to stay and then pick a resort nearby.

I think the point was that he wants a pool right at the resort so that he doesn’t have to go someplace else to swim.
I understand. However, what’s the difference if you can have a beautiful pool within walking distance? For example, the brand new Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Complex has public swimming and is walking distance to a million hotels.
But then you’re in Ft. Liquourdale, so…
bingo. i wanted a location with training options that doesn’t feel like a training camp. looking for somewhere warm, reasonable flight from montreal, where i can mostly relax but do a little training if im in the mood.
it seems all the places that tick the “relax, turn your brain off” box are weird resorts for people that are very much not me. but all the places that i’d normally go to are a bit more adventure and logistics than i have bandwidth for.

Is this associated with the swimming hall of fame???
Yes. Same pool. The hall of fame portion just hasn’t been finished yet. But the pools and the dive tower are both open now.

Very cool, I swam there several years ago before the big renovation started. Super facility; if I were to move to Fort L, I’d want to live somewhere nearby, if it was not too terribly cost-prohibitive.
Have you tried Swimmers Guide? https://www.swimmersguide.com/
Check out the Safety Harbor Resort and Spa. It’s on Tampa Bay and right next to Clearwater.
They have a small 2-3 lane 25 yard outdoor pool that I’ve swam at many times.
For some odd reason it’s not listed on their website, but it’s definitely there.
The Hyatt Regency Orlando’s (formerly the Peabody) terrace pool is pretty awesome and even has swim lines painted at the bottom.
The Rosen Aquatic and Fitness Center in Orlando has a 50 meter pool and is just off International Drive, near the convention center and Universal Studios. Lots of hotels/motels within easy walking distance, including the Hyatt Regency Orlando/former Peabody hotel. I used to swim there when I went to trade shows.
