FL 70.3 cheap hotel w/shuttle? Alternatives?

Looking for an economical place to stay for the Florida 70.3 in May. I assume there are numerous hotels within close proximity.
Are there hotels that would shuttle me over on race morning? (getting back may be hard!)
Or, can I drive my own car in on race morning and park myself close enough to walk it?

There are plenty of hotels all over the area, it’s Disney World. My wife and I have done the race twice and each time just found something reasonable on Hotwire.com or priceline.com.

Just drive your own car and park in the designated race parking area…there are shuttles to the race area before and after the race. I think parking was totally free if you were there for the race.

Even the Disney Hotels did not run shuttles to the race site last year. I got stuck at the hotel and ended up walking(rolling) to the race from the Wilderness Lodge. Outside hotel shuttles will run to the main entrance of the parks, but only at few times a day and as not early as you need. You are best off driving to the race designated parking lot and using that shuttle to transition.

Lots of cheap hotels in the area. Its not a busy time of year.

Any suggestions on how to find a hotel that’s close? What’s the entrance we’ll use to the park?

I raced this last year. I’m sorry to report that it’s a logistical nightmare. They limit where you can drive so you have to take shuttles everywhere. The course was fun though. Tough run if/when it gets hot.

For hotels try google maps, hone in on where the exact venue is (disney wilderness lodge) then tell google maps to show hotels. You can find ones that are close that way. We had 6-7 of us packed into one of those cabins and it was reasonable cost wise with that many people.

were staying at the best western Buena Vista. However ill have a rental car. Its only 87 bucks a night. And right by downtown disney. If you have your own car its pretty much cake. All you do is drive to magic kingdom parking lot and take the shuttle over. Me and my ex g/f were west of disney and we still made it to the race with more then enough time. I didnt think logistics were bad at all.

Use any hotel/motel search engine. www.AAA.com has a good one with maps and distances. You will be entering the “Magic Kingdom” parking lot and sent to a remote lot for the race site/transition area shuttle. Registration/transition/finsih are in the FT Wilderness Campground near the Lake, but you won’t be able to drive there. If you go to Disney World site you may find a map.

I agree it can be a logistic nightmare if you don’t plan it out well. No one likes waiting line for shuttles. It is a great race and taking the family to the Disney Parks after is a nice payback for the family.
