I have loved my Arione Tri saddle for 5+ years and it finally wore out. So, I got a a Arione Tri 2 saddle, which I suppose is the proper replacement for what was the perefect saddle for me. So, I just switched it out and placed it on the rails exactly the same as the old saddle. However, the first couple of long rides gave me some unexpected, and long unknown, soreness mainly in the taint area.
Bump for a little help/advice.
I went from the Tri to the Tri 2 a few years ago.
They are different saddles IMO, the nose on the Tri 2 appears wider and the Tri 2 appears flatter overall. I normally sit way back on the saddle so I don’t really notice the nose that much.
I set my Tri 2 the same way as the first one and have just left it. Don’t know if that helps at all but it at least it bumps the thread.

I’m guessing it just needs a little break in time.
I slide toward the nose…yes they seem like different saddles…As Slade said, maybe just a bit of break-in. I could literally ride all day on the old saddle with no issues…hope this does the same!
Hi David
Suzette here from fi’zi:k.
The Arione Tri and the Arione Tri 2 are indeed two different saddles. Due to feedback we received re: the original Arione Tri (much of it on this forum!) regarding eventually ‘hammocking’ we redesigned the saddle several years back. We basically redistributed the foam more evenly across the top and thus the saddle maintains its shape much longer. Each saddle uses the same exact shell, so there is really is no difference in terms of overall length or width.
If you are riding a carbon shell version the saddle is also going to feel much stiffer as the shell flex decreases.
Feel free to PM me if you have any additional questions. I’d be more than happy to correspond w/ you until we get it figured out.
All the best,
Suzette
Many thanks to Suzette at Fizik!
She took time to help me with care and concern…and some humor too.
Many thanks Suzette
Between the Fizik Arione Tri 2 and the Tri 2 (with carbon shell, but TI rails), which is stiffer?
Thanks,
Chris
Hi Chris
A saddle w/ a carbon shell is definitely going to be stiffer.
Cheers

hello suzzette… i just found this thread and was hoping you could help me out, too. i just bought a new cervelo p2, and it has your arione tri 2 saddle on it. i have about 100 miles on it, and the only pain i am having is in this taint area that this gentlemen discribes. i have read many, many posts to see about adjusting it correctly, but it seems that it always comes back to “what you are comfortable with”… which really doesn’t help me too much, as i’m not sure that me experimenting blindly is the way to go. can you give me at least a little guidance on what i might do.
and i can go back to my bike shop for a fitting adjustment, but they do a bit of that “how does that feel” stuff… i would appreciate greatly some insight from an employee of fizik that makes a business out of the science of this.
thanks!

Stuh, do you have a level and camera phone? Take a picture of the level on the saddle and post it. If you are in a TT position you will probably not want it perfectly level. My nose points down slightly. I ride the Tri2. Not a single issue staying 100% tucked in a 70.3.
hi justin… will take a pic a bit later tonight an post it. thanks for chiming in.
btw… checked out your blog/site… great writeup on wildflower. nice time/results, too. congrats on that. i just started tri last year, and will likely give wildflower a go next year.
more to come later tonight…
ok, here are two pics justin… you can see them via my profile link. all suggestions welcome.
