I assumed (yeah, I know…) that the local YMCA in Salt Lake would have a pool. Was I surprised to learn that they don’t even have a facility!!!
Is there any alternative for an out-of-towner to get a couple of swim practices in around here? I didn’t bring a wetsuit.
There is Fairmount pool near Sugarhouse

and also Steiners is at University of Utah.

Two other great locations with both indoor (25) and outdoor (50) facilities:
www.cottonwoodheights.com
www.kopfc.com
The second is next to the Olympic speed skate oval that has a full 460m indoor track with 4 lanes around it climate controlled. You can also look up Gold’s Gym and 24 Hour Fitness, there are multiple locations that will charge a small fee, or you can scam a ‘trial’ membership.
All depends on where you are going to be. If you are near the University, the Steiner Aquatic drop in rate is insane, in a good way.
as others have said, depends on where you are…
slcjcc also has a nice pool…

Thanks for the replies. I am in North Salt Lake, near Woods Cross and Bountiful.
24 Hour Fitness has a lap pool at the Sugarhouse location.
Use the 7-day pass option to get free club access.
Tell the fitness manager (my former boss) Brad Self that I (Sally Sawyer) recommended you go there.
He will then throw you out! JUST KIDDING.
If you’re in Bountiful check out the South Davis Rec Center

You can get a lane almost any time of day.
