I’ve read the opinions of some on here that fit is the most important thing to consider when buying a bike, and I agree. To make this decision, how do you guys and gals go about getting sized on them before you buy them? I’m not lucky enough to have any huge local bike shops that carry all the nice bikes in alot of different sizes so that I can try them all on. I live in east Tennessee and could travel around some to accomplish this…so what I guess i’m asking is: Does anyone know where I could go to get properly fitted and try out some bikes (cannondale IM 2000, P2k, and along this line)?
Use Dan’s formula to get an idea as to your position and then see which bikes will fit you without too many changes. From my experience (very limited) fit on a bike isn’t like trying on a pair of shoes, It is more like buying a suit - you have to get the suit tailored before it fits properly and some styles may not look right on you (I look goofy in double breasted suits). Ok bad analogy but I hope I made my point anyways.
Yeah, I second that, the whole purpose of a fit, as I’ve come to understand it, is that you don’t need to try out a bunch of different bikes and end up buying a bike because it “felt” better. You get the bike that matches your body dimensions and riding style the best.
