Considering buying a '13 TMR01 Ultegra Di2 bike. I test road it and I think it can work fit wise. Does anyone have experience wth the bike, I test rode it with mavic wheels (which I dislike) and only for a short distance. So interested to hear opinions from those with experience of the bike. In person it looks awesome, pictures on the web just don’t do it justice.
I have a buddy with this bike and several others with TM01s and they all seem to have difficulty with the brakes. Also, while thirty certainly LOOK fast and are undeniably dead-sexy, there doesn’t seem to be any reliable aero data on the bike that I’m aware of.
Maybe that’s true, but what about ride quality, comfort, handling etc.
I’m skeptical that sure BMC would put out an aero bike without testing it extensively.e
A friend of mine told me the bike is outrageously stiff, more so than any bike he has ridden (he races on a TM01). He really loves it, although, I think it is a daily struggle for him to decide which bike to ride
Any other input on this bike? Other than the new article out in Tour magazine, is there any good aero data out there?

This is one of the best problems to have
I went out on a TMR01 during a demo day last year and got a good 40ish miles on it. (I am thus a well qualified expert.) Several of them went out and everyone that rode one agreed it handled well, accelerated well, etc. I didn’t want to give it back…
I ride a SLR01 (and a Shiv). I am not fast/strong enough to say I could appreciate that the TMR is any stiffer than the SLR01. I can’t feel any BB flex in either bike. TMR was without a doubt faster, but that’s probably more due to the wheels than frame, and go fast dust that comes on all new bikes. As expected, it didn’t climb quite as well.
Compared to the SLR01, TMR01 was a harsh ride. I should say that agin, it was a much more harsh ride. I was happy my next ride was back on my SLR01. I’m also that guy who prefers SRAM Red over Ultegra Di2.
If you’re going to race on it, then it would be my pick and would get over it being less comfortable than a non aero frame like the SLR01. But if you are not racing on it, I’d go for the SLR01 or something a bit more comfortable (compliant, plush, insert ST approved technical term).
Yup - raced one for a season (alternating between a Wilier Cento1). Sold it after a season. Couple of thoughts (that echo others):
Best looking bike (with aero wheels) I’ve laid eyes on. Loved it.
Ridiculously stiff. I know people think you can’t tell the difference in “ride” between bikes (all in the rims, tires, pressure, etc.) but I ride 8,000+ miles/year on many different bikes and they all have slightly different feels. This was the first bike I’ve ever had that was too stiff. Some like that I’m sure.
Brakes. Ugh. Awful. Hated them. Worked fine once finally adjusted right - just don’t dare swap wheels …
Handling - should have been fine since I set it up within a whisker of my standby Cento1 (which has probably 75 races/crits on it), but the front end just wasn’t quite stable for some reason, but I think it was more in the move to Ultegra Di than anything else.
Climbed very well as expected.
For the price not worth it IMHO.
