First Endurance Pre Race

Any reviews/thoughts on the pre race stuff? I have used the multi v and it seems to be a good vitamin.

It’s great. I used it on the back half of an IM bike and I felt like I had a rocket booster strapped to my ass. Also used it for tough training sessions and short course races. I seem to have more ability to sustain a high power output and ability to focus more and stay in the aerobars or maintain good running form longer. It could all be in my head. I’m sure there’s some placebo effect. I’m continuing to use it, nonetheless.

should it be illegal? probably. is it? no

The stuff is crazy good. My first time using it was on a 5 hour ride last year, going in tired, groggy, etc. I was given two capsules, 20 minutes later I’m freakin feeling awesome, chatting up everyone on the ride, and had a good run off too.

I have tried it in both training and racing and the stuff gives me a headache and messes with my stomach. I do not use energy drinks really at all so it could be I just dont have a tolerance for this stuff.

I would suggest trying just a little bit at a time if you do try it. I also have used caffeine in various forms (coffee, gels, drinks) and that seems to work really well for me in races without the issues above.

Capsules. Much easier delivery system. Chase it with a bunch of water. I did a cost analysis between the two and it was virtually the same price per dosage. One dose is 6 caps. I usually take 3 caps and then 3 more 30-45 min later. No good science behind this, other than just not shocking my body with all the stimulants at once, and perhaps sustaining the effects a little longer. I’ve done 6 at once and it wasn’t a big deal either. I believe the max dose on the bottle is 9 caps in 24 hours.

I love the stuff. I’m sure I use it way more than I should, as BrianPBN can attest to.

It gives me a much needed boost for the early morning workouts. I use it during the bike in IMs and have it available in special needs on the run, although I’ve never used it on the run.

If you aren’t used to caffeine I would suggest starting with less than a full dose.

Would caffeine pills alone have the same effect?

Have been using it for 3 years. Love it. Have run PRs on it 5k-Marathon. It’s gold in powder form.

Not for me. There’s a lot more than caffeine in those pills. Maybe the guy from first endurance will come on here. There’s all kinds of white papers and info on their website regarding the ingredients. It’s not your typical set of “herbal stimulants.” Something about a different kind of ginseng, etc.
