Firecrest/stinger rim clearance issue on Cervelo P2

Hi ST,

I would like to get “racing” wheels for my 2012 IMs.
I ride a cervelo P2 and want to switch to tubulars (bc I am tall and heavy).
Thinking of Hed Stinger 90 (2011) or Zipp 808 firecrest at the rear (coupled to a 60mm rim front), depending of what I can find used.

Is there any rim clearance issue I should be aware of with a 2011 Cervelo P2 ??
I am going to contact Cervelo about this, but I would love to hear something (or see pictures) from people using these wheels and this frame.
Does it rub sometimes or make the choice of the tire difficult ?

thanks a lot.

Nicolas

I have run firecrest 404’s on my P2 with no issues at all

There are valid reasons for riding tubulars, but I’m not sure that’s one of them…

I was told there not so many quality clincher tire that can be inflated at 11 bars. Even if they can, it would be their max, so probably it is not optimal ?!

Thanks, Ollie, no rubing at all ?

unless you are well over 250lbs there is no reason to be inflating above 120/125psi.

it just makes ya slower, and less comfortable.

I knew writing this would be confusing

I am close to 90kg and my tires seem pretty deformed at the max recommended inflation (Open corsa evo cx/ continental triathlon), like if I was rolling on the side walls… I am sure it is not good for rolling resistance, as side walls are not meant to be touching the asphalt, except while turning ?!

I could get a Hed Jet9 to match my Jet6 front, but I would also like something a little bit lighter for hilly races, a “do it all” combo.

(apologize, english is not my first language)
