Fire Island-need 920 charger

Just got to Fire Island and forgot my 920 charger with less than 50% battery! Catastrophe! I had to check if anyone happens to be here with a charger, I know it’s a long shot but thanks a lot if you do.

I’m going to Fire Island for a few days and was wondering if it’s worth taking the bike. Does anyone have any insight into riding conditions there?

Thanks

Probably not worth it. Which beach?

I will be staying near Ocean Bay Park. I was considering taking the ferry as early in the morning as possible back to the mainland to get a ride in and get back to Fire Island before my wife gets too upset. Obviously it would be a lot easier if there was a place that I can get a good 1-2 hours of nice intervals in, even if it is a short loop.

No real places to ride there…

Thats a long ferry to take both ways. If you do get off the island, get dropped a close to heckscher Park as possible, theres a good loop there.

Unless you’re bringing a fat tire or MTB, don’t bother. It’s all boardwalks, beach cruiser bikes, kids on trikes, people walking to/from the beach. There are no roads per se.

Why not just take a few days vacation instead of obsessing over your interval training?

I considered taking a few days off, but then I read the “how to KQ” thread and decided that I can’t, hahaha.

Any good running routes there?

If you’re leaving from Bayshore, it’s Montauk hwy east to Heckscher Park. There is a 3.5 mile loop on the park roads with little to no traffic. Tony

What’s ironic is Ocean Bay Park is directly across the Great South “Lagoon” from Heckscher. You can see one from the other pretty clearly, yet there is no easy commercial method to get between them.

I’ve run and swam on Fire Island many time, and you can get good workouts doing both, but biking just isn’t really possible unless you have a fat bike. Even then I wouldn’t bother with it, especially if its vacation.

Bumped up to top for edits. Hopefully I don’t have to go into Garmin silence.

Embarassingly, my solution to this problem was to Amazon prime myself a 235 for my trip and then return it afterwards. I’m not proud of this.
